The article above shows a good crating method, unfortunately there will be no inexpensive shipping cost. The worst part is you are going to be to big for many companies. Fedex UPS and the postal service will all allow HUGE packages to ship INTO Canada, but shipping out is a different set of rules all together. When I bought my Kangaroo it came up here UPS, when I sent it back, it was to big in the exact same box, UPS wouldn't take it. Fortunately the buyer was in upstate new york and was willing to drive into toronto to pick it up as he had family there so I only had to ship it from Red Deer, Alberta to Toronto. I used Greyhound, they will accept a large package, unfortunately if you ship it cross border you pay a $40 broker fee right off the top, and they of course weigh it by dimensions, so even if your package is only 50 pounds, the dimensional weight is going to be upwards of 200 pounds. Chances are good this will cost you over $300. I shipped a BVM F16 to California this method and the shipping cost on Greyhound was $360. Forward air unfortunately has only one hub in Canada and that is toronto. I really think your best bet would be to crate it, and drive it over the border if you can afford the time, then ship it from the closest place you can get to in the US. You could also try calling PBB Global Logistics, they have a shipping center, and they will search for the best price and method to ship for you. If somebody knows a cheaper way to ship into the US, please let me know as well, I ship guitars down there all the time and the average guitar costs me $77 to ship into the USA.

Try "BAX". I have shipped planes with them and they were very good. I shipped and Ultra Viper to Qatar for around $250 or so. In the US, you may be looking around $150-$200. call: 1800-CALL-BAX

I've used Forward Air numerous times; they are very affordable and the service is good. I have a Cyclone en route now to San Diego from Quebec - total cost, including insurance, was $150. The crate is about 78"x26"x20" and 50 lbs.

The only downside is they do not pick up or deliver - you need to go to a local Forward Air (or partner freight consolidator) depot to drop off and pick up.

Call them at (800) 726-6654 or (614) 497-4622; web site at http://www.forwardair.com/ .

I have no connection, just a customer.

I also have shipped several large jets using Forward Air without any problems at a very reasonable cost and they all arrived safely..

Like I said, Forward air is great IF you have a drop off center for them nearby. The closest forward air drop off for western canadians is toronto, or at least it was a year ago. Well that's 3000 miles from me and about 3500 miles from Kelowna. If you gotta take it that far to ship it you might as well just drive to pennsyvania.

I would check with Forward on the available Canadian area hubs...granted, there aren't that many, but I just shipped a jet from Montreal...which is a more than a few miles from Toronto.

They do use some subsidiary or affiliate partner drop-off/pick-up locations. Probably just not many of them in AB! (sorry Jeremy! good info in your post, BTW)

sad to say, i had to pass on the jet, i just could not afford the shipping, it is a great jet he is selling, but the shipping killed it for me, even moreso now that it is the holidays, i looked at greyhound, ups, forward air, i was getting prices of around 350 american dollars

all i can say it will be my lose, i really looked forward to getting that byron f-16
