Look close at the photo and you may find something you did not know?

C'arf builds the kingcats for BVM???
why is it so expensive then??
Although it is a C-arf airplane it is built to BVM specs, whether or not that justifies the cost has been the discussion..... Great flying airplane regardless of who actually makes it, that is what you get for the dollars spent

Not to get in a pissing contest on this, but in my opinion the next time you guys see a KingCat up close and personal and take a look at the quality of the structure, particularly the wood and carbon fiber internal structure, you will see why BVM charges what they do. I don't deny that the KingCat is more expensive than many kits on the market, but it's worth it in my opinion. I don't want to engineer solutions or mess with the fit of parts in order to get a professionally finished, good flying and airworthy plane. Perhaps that makes me not as much of a modeler as some of you, but so be it. If I had more time and patience, perhaps my thought process would be different. To each his own though.
I bet it is going to take less time to build my KingCat than it took to build my Composite Arf Kangaroo.

I would agree Antony! The KingCat construction is much higher quality and standards than what I have seen with the roo/rookie/Euro. Much stronger, better fit and quality ..... But that's a given when you buy any BVM product . Bob knows how to do them right.... To me, that is what justifies the cost, some may disagree.....

Also, its BVM's design and I'm sure he had to front the development cost that C-ARF had to go through to make the molds, tooling, etc. Also, I'd be willing to be that Bob's quality standards are pretty high and I know from a friend that visited him a couple of weeks ago that he has to do some additional work on some of the kits so that they meet his standards before they go out the door.
The King Cat is too rich for my blood and not the kind of airframe I'm interested in in a jet, but from the many I've seen, for a jet that can legitimately be in the air with 50 hours or less of work and includes gear, tanks, etc. the value is there...

Yes it’s the King-cat that freaked me out.
I should have known the King-cat has composite-arf written all over it.
The last 2 composite-arf jets I received are better quality than the first.
Reminds me of when Lamborghini was acquired by chrysler their autos improved significantly.
This could be a win win situation.
Merry Christmas

From what I've been told by the folks at BVM is that all of the tooling was done in house at BVM. All of the laser cut parts that are part of the KingCat structure are fabricated here and sent to Comp. ARF for assembly. Pretty much all C/ARF is responsible for is the lay-up work done to BVM specs and installation of some of the parts. The molded parts are then sent to BVM, where all of the rest of the kit parts, landing gear, wheels/brakes, etc., are placed into the kit box to be shipped to the customer. All of the packaged parts (laser cut parts, hardware including every last nut bolt and screw) are counted and sealed by a BVM employee----That person's initials are even on the packaged parts! A very nice plane....My buddy brought his over for me to look at. It left my house a little wet as I drooled all over it.[8D]

im not one to defend BVM's prices, but with the KC, BVM has it priced right ... for $4000 the KC comes with gear, wheels, brakes, kevlar tanks, uat, all hardware, etc ... now compare that to lets say a EF sport ... once you add on all the options (kevlar tanks, gear, wheels, brakes, pipe, intakes, etc ... you end up around $3000 .... for a plane that is enginered, built, and flies like it does, the KC is worth its price tag .... at least in my opinion ..

Yes I was a Lamborghini Countach nut.
Now I am just a turbine jet freak.
In 1987 the Countach died and the Diablo was born.
