Hi Paul...
Here are pics of the YAC F4.
Easy kit to build.
Iam writing an article for Jet International on how to convert the Ducted Fan Phantom into a turbine one.
Plane is 70% finished. Need to install the radio now.
Hope for the first flight around first week of October.
Iam going to Greece on vacation next week. Anyone knows a good Hobby Shop in Athens ?
Thanks, Ralph Esposito

Well happy days are here again, after all the bad weather managed to get out this weekend and burn 5 gallons of jet fuel, Saturday flying the AD Phoniex then Sunday flying the Savex L39, really starting to enjoy this plane now, got the feel of how she flys, landings are not an issue what so ever even cross wind, looking forward to another session this weekend.

Well i guess it had to happen, blitzed my L39 turbine today, gutted is an understatement, just like the Mosquito two years ago same area of airspace, After another wonderful flight was on finals cross leg gear down flaps just gone to full flaps and model went into failsafe, engine data downloaded to computer confirms this.
Only saving grace is everything except the nose leg survived, it all broke up in the right places, so lots of equipment and money saved their, so the big question is it time to go to 2.4 i think so, SMC looks the cheapest for a JR set, i guess another L39 to be ordered in due course.
Really wanna be pissed off but the reality is i got a mate at work dealing with cancer and that really does put it all in perspective, their just expensive toys, though can't afford two many mishaps like this.
I think the most annoying fact is that its out of your control i really wish it had being pilot error, hav'nt got a problem with admitting that, just the way it goes i guess.

Ralph,
I'll look forward to reading about you flight results. I converted this aircraft to twin EDF over three years ago.
It was just under 12lbs rtf and it flew fantastic.

Was asked to test fly a friends L39 this weekend….[8D]
Well…..I just had to…
The flight was videoed.
Please ignore the 3 landings….oops, bit out of practice with the L39, but it does show how robust the undercarriage and plane is.

Thanks for a great thread now 5yrs old. I enjoyed the vid posted on that recent maiden flight, though she was steaming round on to finals. Good test flight. My own MKII L39 has the turbine installed now (thanks for the turbine mount drawing, much appreciated) and I've also started mounting ecu, rx, pump etc, so come about March '09 it might be ready to go. I'll need some intensive stick time to get back into the fast flying so I'll dust off the pylon racers and FAI to get the eye and thumbs into a little training.
Key question Paul is when are going to return to owning and flying a Savex L39 again?
Is there some L39 flyer who might list the key posts or give the details for details on flaps take off+landing, rudder and surface travel (expo etc).
cheers
soft landings in '09

Yes, the landing was too FASST [sm=49_49.gif], it was dead calm that day and i had forgotten just how much they slow up.
left the power on too long! [:@]
I will own another one, as soon as my model fund allows.
I have other projects on the go at the moment, but i miss my L39......[sm=cry_smile.gif]

Here's my latest , all tarted up ready for her trip to London for a few weeks. Already done 20 flights in Australia with the new 44 Gold and Spektrum 2.4 neither of which have missed a beat.
Paul, control throws, Elevator +/- 13 mm, aileron +/- 8mm, measure inboard, and first stage flap, 20mm, rudder about 20mm.
Regards, David G.

How did it go on the maiden? and when is RCJI going to publish your article. I have full YAC F4 in the box with all the extras, drop tanks etc. but it has sat for about three years gathering dust, so keen to read up on this hibernating project.

Why, Paul, can you get yours to spin ?
I was flying mine on Saturday with those settings, its just perfect. I have been getting much more consistent landings using just take off flap about 15 degrees. I still have about 65 degrees availabe in the event of a flameout resulting in a forced landing on our short grass strip. ( better descent angle and speed control ). That said the 44 Gold has never missed a beat.
Really love this litte machine whch now has 65 flight on it, the first logged 105 before the tailpipe fire. and the 44 Gold is an absolute gem.

I find 10mm to be just right, but each to his own.
Happy New Year David.
Yes, it will spin, snap roll and just about anything else you want!

Hello
I just took delivery of my 2nd Swiss scheme Savex L-39 with internal fuel tank in the wing.
If I remove my wing after each day of flying, what would you recommend
for a fuel line disconnection fitting. JetCat has published not to use festo
fittings on the suction side of the fuel pump. What are your thoughts on this issue?
First L-39 is flying but EDF powered. Going Turbine MW44 Gold!
Thanks
John
