Ben,
Sorry to hear about your loss. What a great picture of a guy I do not know, but by the look on his face, he enjoyed this hobby. You and his family will be in my prayers.

Yes, Scott was full of life and enjoyed flying his Bandit. I will post more detailed funeral information as soon as I get it or anyone with detailed information please chime in. I ask every jet pilot to please keep his wife and 3 kids in your prayers.

Regards

Ben

What a great guy has this community lost..... I happened to be his caller for a couple of flights during Ohio Jet Scramble 2002..

As a beginner jet Pilot from Venezuela I can only add that he felt this hobby as part of his nature and was always there ready to help.

Rest In Peace good friend

I too am shocked at Scott's passing. He was always friendly and ever-present at the jet rallies with his distinct Bandit.

Yes, He will be missed. We flew together at many events and at home. We shared a room at superman and all he could talk about was the hobby and his family. If you remember, Scott had a golf cart rigged to carry his bandit. He kept bugging me to have him build one so I wouldn't have to carry my big Isobar around. Scott always stayed late to make sure we had enough pilots to fly at Mich. Jets so the people would not be disappointed. He was a very considerate and compassionate person.
His wife called today to let me know that Scott passed away. She said the funeral will be this Thursday at Kates (SP) funeral home in Capac MI. Scott passed due to a massive myocardial infarction.
Scott will be missed by the flying community and I cannot express the loss to his dear wife and 3 daughters.
May he rest in peace

Scott took the time to meet up with me at sundusky MI to show me and a friend the rules and procedures to fly there, and gave me a couple of pointers on landing. Nice guy, great pilot.

These pictures were from my first flight at Sandusky with Scott's help. It was a good day to fly and he showed Chris and I "ropes" for flying at the airport, mixing models with full scale. He loved flying his Bandit and did it very well. At the end of the day he declined a dinner invitation to return home to is family.

This morning on my way to Chicago where I do most of my work I was called by Scotts brother. When the man said he was Scotts brother my heart jumped into my throat. He told me that there was a tragedy over the weekend and that Scott had succumbed to a severe stroke. This man was one of my best friends in the hobby and loved it as much or more than I do. Though out the year I like to call all the jet pilots in the area from as far away as 300 miles. We all get together and fly jets from Thursday night until we can't stay any longer on Sunday night. He was the first person I would call and the last person to leave. And usually he came the farthest. He was a great modeler, a great pilot and a great friend. He will be sorely missed by my family and our circle of modelers. He will be missed at the Spring Fling, The Fall Fling and the Winamac Jets Over the Heartland jet meet. And any other fling we might have. My heart goes out to his three daughters and his lovely wife. A later conversation with Scotts wife informed us that he had sporadic heart disease. I understand this makes your heart contract and not let go. I am sure his family will not let go either. So lets aways remember him the way he would want it , Doing high speed BONZI!! passes down the runway with his Balsa Bandit always being safe and smiling ear to ear.

Tim.

Scott was a great friend and will be thought of often.
Scott loved his family and always included them in everything he did. I was lucky to know him , and have him as a good friend. Not only will he be missed at the flight line , but also those frequent late night jet conversations over the phone. My heart and prayers go out to his wonderful wife Cathy and their 3
Adorable kids.

I spoke with an employee of Scott’s early Monday and can offer the following info about services.
Scott will be waked Wednesday & Thursday from 2pm till 8pm at Kaatz Funeral home. 202 Main St. Capac Michigan
The funeral will be held Thursday morning at Our Lady of Mt Carmel . The closest hotels are located in Imaly city witch is about 5 miles away from the chapel

I am too sorry to hear of this great loss.I didnt know him but based on the pics he appears to have been full of life, inspiration & happiness. You can tell by his facial expressions that he truly loved this jet hobby. He looks so young to have passed on,Ben how old was he?I hear tragic things like this & it scares me a bit cause so many people take life for granted every day. Many people including myself dont go for annual checkups or if you feel something may be wrong you still dont go to the doctor. This is how my grandmother was which I loved more than life itself, she would never go to the doctors cause she hated them, then she died at the young age of 62.She had a massive heart attack while laying down watching tv.She still had the ash tray on her chest when she passed on.I was glad she atleast went peacefully. This news has opened up my eyes that I need to start eating better & go for a checkup once a year.My dad just got diagnosed with type II diabetes two years ago & has always gotten skin cancer every summer cause he spends so much time out on his boat.I know now I am very prone to get one or the other eventually most likely.Again I am truly sorry for this great loss,my heartfelt condolences go out to his family & may he always look down upon his family & good friends with a big smile. Those of you who were close to him ,I am sure he will be watching you guys fly & smiling still from the heavens above.

Ben, thanks for posting my pictures of Scott and I at the last get together at Winamac this year, where Scott forced me to get over my fear of flying my Bandit by myself. He was a great insperation on that day and I will never forget him for taking the time to help me . In the short two years that I have spent with Scott he has really been my soul brother and the funniest guy you would ever want to hang around with at a jet rally. I will miss you Brother Scott, and may the peace of God rest upon Kathy and the girls through this moment of grief.

Miss you man

William

I had seen Scott at several events in the recent past, but really got to talk to him and know a little about he and his family this year at the 2003 Heart of Ohio jet scramble. From the few days we pitted together and talked at the hotel, I do not think this is a man anyone would ever have anything bad to say, he was truly first class. I mainly think about his family as they appeared to be his life. He will be missed and I only wish I would have known the man better.

I just returned home from our six hour round trip to see Scott one last time.Man.....its hurts to see him gone.i admit it brings many tears to my eyes when you see him knowing that he wont be with family or flying with us jet jocks no more. I just talked to him last week and in the descusion he said...(Ben,life is so short man we have to live it to the fullist and do what we love to do.). and thats just what scott did. Wow! it hits like a ton of bricks when you think about it. Finally id like to say, i look at our jet curcit like it is nascar and scott is one of the great drivers we lost. i would like and hope to see everybody that knew him carry a black stripe over there number or insignia if possible for the 2004 season,i know i will. Rest in peace Scott. Ben B.

I just returned home ,
What a long drive. It was nice to see Scott's turf, After being invited up there so many times. My only regret is that I didn't go up flying with Scott. We talked about it many times. But never had a chance to make it happen.
For those who couldn't make the drive for whatever reason. you won't be surprised to know there was over eight hundred people in attendance at Scott's wake. And I didn't count but I would say there had to be at least 350 at the church and Cemetery for the funeral. What a tribute to a great Person. Scott touched so many people in so many ways. He will be remembered forever not only by his jet Buds But also by all those who new and loved him. And let me tell you , I saw allot of tears. Scott was a great friend to all of us guys. Scott Is Resting In Capac Cemetery now rite in front of his father. The cemetery is located rite out side town and has many giant oak trees. Its out in the country, like something you would see in a hallmark card. What a nice place for him. Ive got to tell you guys. Tears come to my eyes every time I think of this whole thing. But I am glad I got to see Scott one last time. My inspiration's on this Is that Our Friendship with Scott is not over, But just Postponed, someday in the future we will all get to fly with him again. Ben I too am going to wear something in memory of Scott this upcoming year. And I am going to fly the living you know what out of my airplanes Cause I know thats what he would be telling me to do. Oh well what else can I tell you that you don't already know.
To All I say , Remember Scott's Smile, Ear to ear Throttle up and Knife edge pass
WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
To Scott I don't say goodbye but see ya later bud, Rest easy Brother.

My love and prayers go out to Cathy And Scott's entire family .

Your good friend Terry D north of Chicago
