Looks like my first jet is going to be a second hand Kangaroo. I have heard a lot of good things about this airframe, but I keep hearing about this hopping effect. Is it really bad? I have flown a lot of heavy war birds and fast racing planes so I assume that I have the necessary skills. Does anyone have advice for the first flight? (It will also be my first turbine powered flight)
On a side note it looks like I am going to successfully enter this hobby for under 1000 dollars. I know the equipment that I will be using is a little out of date (Sophia J850) but its more than a humble grad student like myself could ask for. Some day I will grow up (and get a real job) so that I can afford to buy a handful of modern turbines like the rest of you!!

You will love the Roo! I have a Rookie that is a total blast to fly!
They will hop if you try to land them fast. You need to let the plane stop flying just as it touches the ground. I usually have close to full up elevon just before it touches down. USE THE SPEED BRAKE! These planes are pretty clean and take a while to slow down. They do not like to land with out it! It took me a long time to actually slow the plane down on final to way it should be because I was afraid it would stall... it won't. (Well lets just say it will fly very very slow)
You can't go wrong for the price, you will have a blast with the Roo!
Sent you a PM also.

Flew a ROO for years with J850 on top, great fun.
As has been said, use airbrake.
If you are buying a second hand one, find out when it was made, the very early ROOs had the main UC too far back which put too much weight on the nose wheel. Combine this with high thrust line and it would snake all over the place.
This was solved after the first batch, it has been fine ever since.
