Default Cermark Macchie ARF

I heard there was a Turbine powered Cermark Macchie Arf at Fentress. Did anyone see it fly. How did it do? I am thinking of getting one to set up as a DF, save for a turbine and convert. Would like to get some feed back, + or -, on the flights, if it did fly. Thanks

Default It was ours

Hi It was one that we did at GPA Hobbies as a group. The plane flys very well but does need some TLC from you as a builder. The first thing is the plane comes out tail heavy or at least ours did. we put a 1500 mah battery in the nose for the ecu. That did the trick for balance. The plane is a great transition plane as it has both the DF and Turbine tail pipes. I understand that the future versions which will be here soon have all of the upgrades that we and other people have done in the planes. We have a RAM 500 for power and it is plenty of thrust, I have heard of some people with Jetcat80 and Ram 750's in them but why carry the extra weight? I wasn't present for the test flight but the guy who flew it had such a good flight going that he flew until it was dry and did a dead stick landing with no problems. We have a few avaible in the next shipment if anyone is interested.

Default We got 1/2 a dozen coming next month

I had 7 flight on my with the Ram 500. This is the most easiest trainer jet that I ever flew. If you follow some of my previous post on this model. It need some MOD here and there for turbine power. Andy Low from ED Inc also supply with some pictures of my modification.
I also submit the drawing for Gary Mueller to make the Kevlar tanks for this model. If anyone interested to order the tanks. Either contact me or Gary Mueller.

Tam,
I am very interested in the Kevlar tanks for the 339. How much fuel will they hold and how much do they cost?

Thanks,
Randy

The pair of saddle tanks hold 54 oz plus. Retail price $120-$130 a pair.

So I can still use the big Duo Bro tank right? Will I have to modify the bulk head that holds the 22 oz. sulivans as I assume that's where these go?

Default lite ply arf "jets"

I hope like hell these "mods" are properly spelled out in the instructions, or completely fixed in the newer kits. The experienced people I know that have these kits are not impressed with the internal structure, but they had no problems making the fixes.

The problem is at my field, many many people have only built arfs, nothing else, and never will. They follow the arf directions to the letter, without question or common sense.

These guys usually run YS 91 or 120s in the 60 size warbirds, regularly the radar at about 100-110, with EZ connectors on the elevators and garage sale hitec servos.

They are now buying this cermak arf, they absolutely WILL NOT modify the plane from how it is delivered, and they will not have any experience of flight loads they will be experiencing.

I hope cermark/andy low know what they are doing. Does anyone have these "mods" so I can at least help these guys at my field??

I was the pilot of the one at Fentress. This plane flies great! No bad habits to take note of, just build a little more strength and use common sense when assembling - it's no big deal.

Good luck,

The saddle tanks locate between two main former. Leave the main former along. I would use 24 oz tank instead 40 oz in the front.
