Default BD-5 Install Complete

Well Guys, I finnaly finished installing the gear in my BD. I still hope to have it at the Toledo show in April. I have test run the P-160 and it runs great with all the holes closed up (canopy and gear door). So far no overheating problems, of course it's only 35 here in Pittsburgh. I hope these Pics show up.

Not quite. It is a 53% bird. It ended up about 111 in wing span. With the nomex construction it ended up at 36 lbs dry, but with 5 litters of fuel and 24 oz of smoke it will end up a about 46 lbs wet.

That is one SWEET bird!
Very nice! Of course we'll see some video of the maiden voyage posted right!!??
I see your intakes are behind the engine in the traditional BD-5 configuration. Do you have auxillary inlets in front of the turbine?
Thanks!
Myles

No Myles

There are no additional intakes ahead of the turbine, just relying on reverse flow to cool the turbine. So far so good. And yes there will be videos of the maiden flight, that should be the first nice day after Toledo.

Here is another pic of the intakes that are behind the turbine. We did bend them in 90deg to help with the reverse flow.
