HI all, I"m repairing my fiberglass fuse after I lost the nose on a hard landing. I"ve structualy repaired the damage with West System epoxy and glass cloth, I"ve got 2 coats of West epoxy and 407 filler, the shape is perfect but porous.I now need to put a final coat on that is easy to sand, feathers out well and holds paint well. Please don"t say spot putty as I find that paint does not stick well to it, need your advice.

Depends on what you are filling, but if it is just porous as you say, I would use K-36 primer, if that is not thinck enough, I would mix microballoons into the k-36 and brush it on.

Hate to suggest bondo, but since I went to the Doug Arnold school of Bondo and learned it's capabilities on the Isobar. It might work. But I find microballoons and 30 min or west systems works very well also.

I never heard of microballoons and K36 or K38. I might give that a try.

Also, there is a two part catalyzed "spot putty" that you can get at the automotive store. This is a very good putty and will fill in scratches and such very well and is certainly paintable.

Two words...........Evercoat 400.............or three words....... Evercoat 400 lite.
At the same store you get your Ditzler paint.

Go to your local paint and body supply store and get a tube of glazing putty. It is very light weight, spreads like butter, sands easier than balsa and it will fill any pin holes, scratches, and small inperfections. It will work with lacquer, acrylic, synthetic, and urethane paint systems.

I'm cheap so I don't use micro balloon just go to bathroom and get baby powder and mix it with primer which might be k36 or 401dplf sands easy and ends up same color as primer so there's no effect on end color.

THREE cans if Split Second weigh as much as ONE can of evercoat 400. Can't say the same for the Evercoat 400 Lite since I have not tried it, but Check and see if you can find some of that too. Sold in Automotive paint store ( locally we get it in Long Beach at House of Kolor)

Turbulence

I just started using that Split Second, it is awesome stuff, so light and the consistency out of the can is like whipped cream. Great stuff

Hey if it's that much lighter , I'll have to give it a try. I've been out of the Body Shop Business for a few years......and they always come up with improvements on the 'ol family recipe! LOL
