Eurosport Fin alignment help
For those of you who have built the eurosports, have a question for you. I am in the process of trying to align my fin/rudder to the fuse. With the wings on, I can measure the fin and get it right on the money. If I stand back and look at it from a distance, it looks to be off by a lot. I then tried to line it up by sight and the fin appears to measure off by 1/4" aprox. Have any of you ran into the same situation and found a good way to align the fin and feel good about it.
Thanks.

RE: Eurosport Fin alignment help
Hi MS,
Just read the instructions... they say that the fuse is not 100% symmetrical (!!!!!) and that measuring is of no help.
Here is the way I did:
-put the plane inverted on a table, and have it level with the ground spanwise (check with a bubble level)
-attach a plumbline above the airplane's center line and that's it! , you have a perfect square reference line that you can use as a guide
hope this help
regards
Florent

RE: Eurosport Fin alignment help
heres a similar solution as florent suggests
start with a LEVEL SURFACE, pack the fuse until the trailing edges align(measure from bench to aileron outer tips, elevon tips, etc, then tack glue a string with a small weight (plumb-bob) on to the fin trailing edge and sight it.
make sure the wings are level and the fin will be perpendicular. forget about the fuse, its all over the place.

Difficult one. Remember you can trust your eye! If it looks skew, it is SKEW!!!! Remember that you have 2 chances with the fin. Firstly when you glue the fin to the fuselage and then the fine adjustment when you glue the support tube to the former you can still move the fin slightly-the fuse is not symmetrical. Level wings and then plumbob, when all else fails, trust your eye!
Good luck

Yeah I used my eye alot, youd be suprised how accurate they are. Maybe not on a jet like this but sure as hell on a little foam pusher Mirage.

Used my eyes also, on a day that I didn't have anything to drink the night before.............
I sighted the rudder against a plumb bob in the background making sure the wings were level, I checked with a tape measured, and yep, those instructions are correct, she aint symmetrical...........
Cheers
