I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but when I played the above video, my computer locked up. CTR/ALT/DELETE did nothing. My power switch would not even work. I had to shut it down by turning off the APC. It took me 45 minutes to get it up and running again.

hey, i hope you did not take any ofense to me saying that ... i did not mean that with seriousness ... what OS are you running ? and what version of media player ? try updating your windows (if thats what you run) Microsoft has a windoes update web page which will scan your PC and determine what patches you need to run your PC up to current spec .. this includes the newest versions of media player ..

i can re-copy it to the server ...
the movie is originally a DV-avi edited in Adobe premiere, and then converted to win-media using windows media encoder 9. By the time you read this, the new file will be on the server ... A file should never crash a whole OS, if anything, just hang the application that opened it ...

Not sure if you have tried to reload the clip or not, but I just now tried to view it, and it sent my computer into orbit. It locked up tight and stuff started scrolling across the top of the screen at about warp two. Nothing worked, not even the power switch. I had to shut off the surge protector and re boot. I am running XP with media player version 9.00.00.375 also. Your clip definitely does something to this setup for some reason.[X(]

RE: Scale Sonic boom :o)
Vid plays fine here. (Tried it both streaming, and via "right click, save as", from my hard drive)
Media player 9.00.00.2980
Windows 2000 5.00.2195 (SP 3)
Perhaps you guys have something in common with your systems, patch levels, media player, or hardware.
It's an oddity for that many people to have actual "crash" problems just trying to view a video.
Something's wrong... and it's not the vidfile

I downloaded all the latest Windows XP updates and the latest Media player upgrade.
I tried it again and this time it almost played and then my display went from 1280 x 1024 to 640 x 480 and then I got a pop up box that stated that I needed to reboot for my system to work properly.
I guess I'll use my imagination also.
