loose wing tubes
How can i tighten the fir of wing tubes inside the wings/fuse ?? on my rookie my tube is loose, just enough to allow for a little play in the wings ... i was hoping to find some thin heat shrink tubing, like the kind that gets wrapped around battery packs, but i cant find anything of small enough of a diameter ... what can i do ?

RE: loose wing tubes
What about brushing or spraying on a very thin coat of epoxy onto the tube?
The hobby shop I used to buy my heli stuff from sold this thin heat shrink used for covering tail rotor blades, by the foot. I used to use it on my tail booms instead of paint to make them white. Another option...

RE: loose wing tubes
You could try to wax up the tube and "Pot" the tube in with Aeropoxy... on just the ends of the center section. That way you might have a better chance of getting the tube back out.
but I would sell it and buy a Bobcat.

the rookie with a p120 and dual axis thrust vectorin will fly the pants off of a bobcat , plus i have a kingcat with a p200, big rafale also for p200 , and a grippen (p80) in the works also anyway ....
i though ot the wax and epoxy/aeropoxy method, but that might get too tight ... i might try spraying the tube with some urathance clear coat to thicken it up ... i also though of spraying it with very thineed out resin / epoxy with a few coats to get an even spread and right thickness ...

David, if you can get a CD to drive out to ME for 3 hours and watch me fly, I'll get my waiver .... I'll get it eventually , so far I have not needed it, but i do want to start going to some jet meets, so i will give up a weekend and go get a signoff ... ...
as for the manouvers a rookie can perform, they are very easy , and most pilots would be able to do some sort of 3d style flight on it ...

RE: loose wing tubes
It looks like I am a bit late on this one but if you are interested, I had the same probelm on my CARF Kangeroo. I took carbon fibre tow(the single strand carbon fibre) and wrapped a few layers around the tube until it was slightly oversize and then sanded it down for a perfect fit. I used cyno on the carbon. By the way, the 2 sides were different sizes so I have a left and right as well!

RE: loose wing tubes
Hi Doug
Unfortunately the Roo does not have a tube installed but only the 2 holes in the side of the fuse as bearing points and the fit is really loose! Your suggestion is perfect for the tube in tube type fits.
Regards
