Default My New Planes Plus F-86

My new F-86 is finally ready for its first flight thanks to a friend who did the final equipment installation for me. Taking it to Tennessee Jets this weekend:

It hasn't been weighed yet. 30 to 32 pounds is a guesstimate. Powered by a RAM 1000X.

It has been discontinued by Planes Plus. It might re-appear at some later date but you would need to get any details from Don Kanak.

I started off with a Killer Cocpit but ended up throwing about half of it away and scratchbuilding many of the items you see. Most of the scratchbuilding is in the seat and the items behind the seat.

Congrats Steve and Paul on the first flight. It was very impressive in the air. Other than a leaking retract cylinder which made the first landing a little hairy, the plane looked fantastic in the air and you guys made it look easy. Hope to get to see it fly again soon.

Thanks for all of the nice comments. First flight was Friday afternoon at Tennessee Jets. The first half of the flight was pretty uneventful. Soon after that things got interesting! First we noticed that the nosegear door had dropped open. My test pilot, Paul Blanchard, tried to put the gear down but nothing was moving. He made 4 or 5 more circuits of the field trying to get the gear down but to no avail. We made the decision to belly land on the runway. The first two pictures show that everything was closed and locked for part of the flight. The third picture shows the nosegear door hanging open and the nosegear strut trying to come down an instant before touchdown. The last photo shows the plane taxiing back to the startup area after the gear was extended manually. Fortunately only minor scrapes on each wingtip and one just under the tailpipe. At touchdown, the nosegear had locked in the down position and the right main gear suddenly popped down and locked.

Congratulations on the maiden! Some minor things to work through but hey you only bent down once to pick it up!
