Eurosport canard
I was wondering how much slop is allowable on the eurosport canard?
I have upgraded my linkage with Todd's control arm, the axles runs on ball bearings , the movement is slop free , but I still have some play ,most of it comes from the servo the remaining looks like it is some flex from the axles themselves, or from the canards??
how are your canards set up?
Thanks
Florent

RE: Eurosport canard
Hello Florent.
On my first EuroSport (I sold it) there was a lot of slop on the canards. No problem at all. But of course you should try and get as little slop as possible. As long as you have carefully balanced the canards, you should have no problems with a little slop.

RE: Eurosport canard
Florent,
I haven't come across a EuroSport that doesn't have slop in the canards yet!!
As Stig says, do what you can to remove as much slop as possible and you'll be OK. I would say that I can wiggle the trailing edges of my canards up and down about 2-3mm each way.
Rgds,
Mark

RE: Eurosport canard
Rider,
I few weeks ago a posted a modification to the canards using 2 bearings per canard's axle, instead of 1.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_17...tm.htm#1808602
Tood observed to me that it was over design....he is right, the structure I used is too strong for the job, but I insist that 2 bearings provide smoother rotation and NO PLAY AT ALL.
I'm working on another version, using aluminum axles same diameter of the original, instead of the 1/4" carbon rods and a different approach to the structure concept.
Good luck,
Miguel

Thanks all for your advices!
Todd,
Do I have to drill a hole in the control arms to pin the axles or tightening is enough?
Miguel,
I saw your mod(really nice), but the slop doesn't come from here, it is rather some "flex" from the canards....
