John,
A friend of mine has a wooden platform that he puts in his truck and bungee cords his models down for tranportation. If the plane is up by the cab there should be enough down force to keep the plane from flying if you build a board and tie it down.

John,
I did the pickup thing for many years with no trouble. A sheet of plywood with some eye hooks & bungees work well. Make up some soft foam saddles to fit the plane into so you don't have to worry about the gear collapsing. I was caught in the rain numerous times and things stayed surprisingly dry.
I've got a van now, but am looking into a trailer for next season. Wife doesn't mind glow fuel in the van, but kero is another smell completely!
Doesn't the jet fit in the Mustang?
I've got a 97 GT ragtop & a 65 FB (current resto project) and planes don't fit in them too well either.
Good luck!

I had a buddy a long time ago that used to bring his trainer to the feild strapped on to his motorcyle. He would attach the wing and them tie the whole thing to the back of the seat. Hey the wings stay on it at 200 mph they aought to be able to handle highway speeds.

plane hauler
I use a 20 foot moose trailer .. we get all kinda stuff in there.
We even bring our 4 x 8 work bench with vise!!! 10 min. block time of vise use is availible for a nominal fee... that vise straightened more stuff in Mississippi than you could imagine.
The bench and vise will be at Southwest and Superman jet rallies.
Look for the Texas flags & the Austin Gang!! Call ahead and reserve vise time if you think you might need it. Even if you don't need the vise, feel free to come by and sign the work bench!! We have alot of names signed from Mississippi..
See ya'll there!!!
