Default Hand-Me-Down

when you get bored, Here are some repairs job pictures of the hand me down plane I picked up. Repairs are on the way. from:

to:

in two hours of actual work time and one of those was spent sanding. Total cost so far:
1. Canopy $28.00 (darn thing DOES NOT come with a canopy Deck like when you buy the kit and they have NONE yet)
2. Wingtip tanks (could of fixed the old ones, but got new ones instead) $70.00

There are a lot of pictures to see, but will post later. If you get desperate you can start on your own.

Hey Ralph,

Looks great! Sorry, I don't have any extra parts for you but this sure goes to show fixing a plane is a lot easier and faster than rebuilding a plane! Good luck on getting her in the air again.

Ralph, what that around the trust tube behind the 500? Some kind of thermal blanket? Have you found paint to match the blue yet? If so, what? Thanks.

Default Blanket??

You mean that Blue stuff?? That is blue Painting tape. I use it to cover the little ears that attach the tailpipe to the fuse or Bypass if you got one. I also try to cover the outter pipe ring until I install the pipe on the plane here is why.

1. Makes it easier to pull the pipe in and out of the plane

2. Makes it harder to cut your self with the sharp edges (he he he been there, learned from that)

When I am ready for the final install. take the tape off and then go fly. Color matching. Well I would have to match FIVE colors I (Blue, Red White, Light Blue and Green) think will just leave it with the nose with grey primer or maybe do a camo job with Orange tanks.

Default NOT DONE BY ME.

While this could explain my flying skill, this wreck was not done by me. The plane suffered a Dead stick while trying to go around for a second attempt at landing and nosed in. This used to be a friends plane. He did not think it was worth fixing, He wanted to trash it. I got it and started putting it back togetther. Our club webpage has a section on repairs and I figured this would be a perfect example on how to show/do a repair.

None of the formers are damaged and the wings are perfect. I even tore out the landing gear Wheel Well cover to inspect the wing from the inside and it was all perfect. Now that I got back to school I became a cheap ******* again when it comes to planes. Now my hobby money pays for tuition and book at Cal State Los Angeles.
