Largest R/C scale jet in Europe.
Hi All, I attended the UK Large Model Association RAF Cosford flying meeting last weekend and had the pleasure of witnessing the largest scale jet in Europe flying, a Hadley Page Victor...absolutely awesome !!
I have upload a pic in the jet section of the photo gallery with your's truly in the foreground to try to lend a bit of scale to this monster.
I took lots more pics with some internal construction shots and quite a few MPEG's of it flying, so if there is interest I can post more.
Enjoy, Rob.

Yepp she's a biggy alright !!
Sorry should have made my original post a bit clearer to find the pic. I'll post a few more which you should be able to find again under 'Victor'
This baby captured the 'in-air' presense of the full size perfectly.
Cheers, Rob.

Scale.
Ihad a good chat with Gordon and the model is built to around 1/7th sclae and uses a scale wing section which in itself is polyhedral and changes to a lifting section towards the tips.
Traditional construction is used throughout with ply formers, balsa skinning and glass skinning. Wing outer sections are balsa covered foam.
The amazing thing to me about this whole project is that it took only 5 months to complete, the first oiece of wood was cut between Chrismas and New Year !!
I'll post some more construction shots later as I'll have to delete some that I've already posted due to lack of space.
Cheers, Rob.

Hi Eddie,
Well I will be posting pics as I do stages of the building program of the 'Grey Cloud' I guess you saw it on my web page! Anyway I will be in the UK at the end of August getting more materials for the model. It's got to go through the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) proccess before it can fly, just like all models over 20Kgs (like the Victor did as well).
It has the following spec:
5.2 Meters Long
wingspan of 5.2 Meters
1.7 Meters tall.
Wing area is 3.89 sq Mts.
Powered by 4 RAM 750F turbines
So far I have done 540 hours draughting work on the 220 laser cut ply and lite-ply parts. There are 50 parts in each side of the main U/C legs alone. The U/C is working well.
The model will carry 16 litres of jet-A in the main tank with 4 x BVM UAT's and 4 x 250c.c. hopper tanks (one in each engine compartment)
8 x 9206 servos.
10 x 5301 servos.
4 x 9303 servos.
4 x 129 DP recievers.
Pics will go up on my web page http://homepage.eircom.net/~skycam/ and on the JMA UK page http://www.ukjets.demon.co.uk/ as things progress.
