Flew my new Mini-BobCat today. All I can say is Wow! It uses the WeMoTec Mini fan with a Astro 805 power system on 10 cells (Sanyo 4/5 AUP 1700 ma cells). This plane is quick. With the above batteries I'm using 250 Watts which produces 31,000 RPM. Flying weight is 39 oz. I'll be doing more test flights next Sat. Keep you posted.

I'm hoping to have mine ready to bring with me to Arizona Jets in November. Mine will be an updated version with retracts and possibly plug-in wings.

I was planning on doing a redesign of the wing to make it all built-up and such.. but seeing how well it works with the foam wing.. I may not. Moving to built-up would let it be fully laser cut though if it were to be kitted (possibly in the works right now). Not sure..

I started drawing this up for an EDF design contest over on the E-zone (www.ezonemag.com) but I didn't have enough time to build and fly it for the judging period. There was enough interest from others that wanted to build it though for fun anyway.. so they became my prototypers.. hehe..

BTW.. before anyone flips out (re: Ferrari logos), I drew this up with the full blessings of BV..

Default Prototypers!

Works for me. It flies great. I'll finish covering it next week. That is one nice thing about electrics for can fly them in the raw. No oil problems.

OK guys.. looks like the kit for this little baby is going to happen. Talked with BV this morning and he's given his blessing to it (NO.. BVM is not kitting it for me.. hehe).

I'm starting on the rework of the drawings to include the option of a plug-in wing setup for the outer panels, as well as the Electric Jet Factory retract system.. Of course.. adding these would require use of a hotter EDF setup.. but we'll see.

Great, keep us posted, how about a .21 size fan maybe, or a small pusher prop? Just thinking.....

I'm sure you could retrofit a pusher onto the airframe..

How cool would it be for one of the REALLY little turbines? Of course there would need to be a lot of redesign for structural strength.. hehe..

quote from R. Wagoner Electric Jet Factory from Ezone thread
Doug, Thanks again for allowing EJF to use your design to create 3 new kits and likewise to BVM for a job well done on the original model that you were inspired by. We also appreciate the green light given to kit the design from BV and look forward to 3 new Sport Jets for our growing EDF Jet community. We will have kit release dates in the next few weeks.

The 3 different size jets will use the Mini Fan 480, Midi Fan and either the HW 730 or HW 750 fan unit. Each size will use a sheeted foam core wing and laser cut balsa sub-assemblies with additional foam and plastic parts. The Mini Fan 480 size is aimed at Bungee, Fixed or 1/2A retracts, Midi Fan size Fixed, EJF retracts or Mini Spring Airs and the HW 730, HW 750 size to use standard size struts and retract systems.
Robert just released this info this morning. I'm getting in line for one too.

When I asked BV for his permission.. it was for EDF power. I would think anything beyond that would be up to you guys to figure out.
