Default SimJet Nexus is here.

Mr. Postman, bring me a dream.
Today was the big day where I received my SimJet Nexus turbine. It was certainly worth waiting for, and I can't wait to mount it in my EuroSport. I'll let you guys know how it performs after I fly it at the jetmeeting in Rena/Norway this comming weekend.

Here are the specs:
SimJet Nexus MK 1.
35,3 Lbs/ 157 N at 122000 rpm
650 C @ full power
Fuel consumption @ full power 560 ml pr min.
pressur ratio 3,2 - 1
weight 1,45 kg

Here are the first impressions.

Congratulations on your new Nexus, Stig!

It is very nice that you are coming to Rena and fly with us! Will Lars be joining you?
Can't wait to see the new Nexus. Is it Kero-start?

See you on Friday!

Hi Staale.

Lars is not planning to go. I will be there with Keld Hansen (Large AD RAfale/SimJet 3000)and Kurt Hevang (Avonds F-15/SimJet 2300)

It is not the kero start version, as it has not been properly tested yet. But it is just as well. I don't mind bringing along a small propane bottle. I have done so for the last 6 years.

See you friday night/saturday morning.

Gary: I don't know what happened to the blue cover. I'll ask Lars.

Hi Stig:

That NEXUS sure would look a lot nicer sitting inside of my 1/4Scale Vampire than a darn old ES.

Looking forward to obtaining one of these as well.

Please advise of first impressions.

Best Regards:

Hi

Happy to hear that like what you see Stig.

Reg. Blue cover OOO my I new it would be a problem , I just decided that this engine being a complete new design from ground up should be different from our other engines, it have a sort of brass/gold anodising ( made for us , not a standard colour ) it match very well to the base ground colour used inside full size F16 / F18 etc.

But any way if any of you like to have the blue colour front and grey housing I will make some custom engines.

Rena. I will have a talk with she who must be obeyed, I can maybe fly up Sunday and land on the small air field at Norway parachute centre it´s is app 20 Km from Rena ( Rena is a military air port ) NO LANDING THERE ATT ALL

I think I am followed by a UFO , this is a picture send to me by Stig when I left Holsterbro what is that flying over my Piper ???? tower pls. Ask that ting to go a way[sm=confused.gif]

We just got a visitor the other day A BIG ONE , I kindly asked them if thy had engine problems But D it No,, it would had made the turnover for the next year, they just picked up some small power plant parts of 75 ton .

Well, I did get inn 4 flights with my EuroSport and the new Nexus during the Rena/Norway meeting. Awsome power. [X(]But I found that I need to make another exhaust with a bigger dimension, because the stock exhaust is to small. I couldn't go to full power, and the turbine was running a little hotter than normal. I gave Lars (from SimJet) the dimensions of the pipe, and he told me it was to small. So, now I have to wait for the new exhaust to arrive, before I can go fly again.

Hi Stig:

What where the recommended Pipe inlet and outlet sizes as it sounds like I may have to build a new pipe for the Vampire based on your ES findings.

The Vamp pipe is currently 3.5" inlet x 3.125" outlet x 17.5" long.

TY

Hello Kerry.

Sorry, but I only know the metric meassures of the pipe.

Stock ES pipe: 85 mm inlet, 75 mm outlet, 510 mm long

Lars gave me some meassures for the new pipe:

95-100 mm inlet, 85 mm outlet, 510 mm long.

Hope this helps.

Video of the EuroSport with the SimJet Nexus [link=http://www.djfubar.dk/Video/Euro_sport.wmv]here[/link]

Sorry for the poor quality. Video was taken with a poor digital camera.

Edit:
By the way. Its still the stock pipe. I just moved the engine forward, so there is a 40 mm gab between the exhaust and the pipe

Your friend with the video cam couldn't find the zoom button...

Looks like you got a lot more power now than you had at Rena.
Did the temp. also drop when you moved the engine forward?

HI Staale.

I have more power now, but it is still running a little hotter. But I am really looking forward to getting my new pipe, so I can get the last 4-5 lbs of trust from the turbine.

By the way: The spool up time on the engine is fantastic. Almost instant response, which feels very nice when doing the 3D manouvers, and also on landing approach.

Hello again.

At the recent JetPower event in Germany I bought a new pipe for the EuroSport. The guys from Orbit Electronic are producing all sorts of pipes in different length and dimension, and they had one for a 160N to 200N turbine. I got it for only 100 Euro's (120 Dollars) Here are some pics of my setup. Due to the large dimmension of the pipe, I had to make an oval hole in the rear former. I'll be testing it tomorrow.

I did the testing today. The SimJet Nexus finally can enfold all it's power after I installed the new pipe. The noise level of the exhaust has also gone down, so overall I'm very happy. I did two flights (between the showers) and I could feel the difference right away. The plane will accelerate very brisk on vertical also, so I'm looking forward to a day with better weather to practice some real 3D like manouvers.

Sorry, no video today.

But I have a picture of the new exhaust compared to the stock pipe, which is here laying on the table.
