Default New Painting tutorial

Hey guys, recently I've been receiving a large number of emails and PM's asking more questions about painting. I don't have the time immediately, but in the next few months I plan on doing another Jet.
So I've decided I will take the time out and do a painting tutorial for RCU using a Jet this time.

My questions are......

How involved would you like to see it?
(obviously the last 3 poll options are jokes )

dang, I thought the last one was serious

Id like to see how you do the different effects, I know how to paint easy enough, but doing the tricks are what Id like to see.

I for one, would like to see a tutorial on the entire process, from start to finish. Count me in. I for one also, can't say "painting is easy enough".. From the guns, to the paint, to the pressure used. I paint as well as I cover. Either one is lacking. So, like I said.. Count me in.

Jeremy, can you setup a tripod and edit videos? The pictures from the last one were amazing, but I'd like to see how it's really done. I'm pretty sure all of your stuff was printed on a computer and stickered on to an airplane, PROVE ME WRONG

Oh, I'm not wearing any pants (does that help?)

It's almost disturbing that 15% of you aren't wearing pants LOL!!!!

I'll see about video, I will have to cut a window into my doors probably (which I've been wanting to do anyway) as I'm sure anyone with a digital video cam won't want to have it in an overspray filled booth :P

No stickers here Sean, just pure paint

Ok, I have a buddy with a digital video cam who will do some video, what I would like to know is what areas you guys think you would like the video of the most.

And for gods sakes, put on some pants!

prep and mixes! technique will require practice, but there are mechanics to the process that could help us all out. what mix, how thick, which tip in the gun for what, etc.

Hi Jeremy

Just do it all. From start to finish, thats is what we will need to do a proper job anyway. And why don´t you set you self up with the people from SKS Video Productions, ore some one els that know how to do this the right way. Hey you may make a little money on this. And the rest of Os will have a great video to spent our money on.

And do we really need to have our pants on......

Hi Jeremy,

Tellyou how bad I need the tutorial, I thought guns meant on board weapons, but I guess you mean airbrush guns!!!

Having marvelled at the "ART" you have achieved, this is such a welcome topic from someone who "knows".

My project is a T33 BVM turbine, my first scale model and jet. So to get this baby painted properly is really important to me. I would dearly love to see how the different panel line effects can be done too.

Really looking forward to this, a very generous offer.

Cheers to you good sir!!

Hey guys,
Ok, I'll do it as a full complete tutorial, please be patient, it won't get started for probably a couple months as I have to get a bunch of stuff sorted out here work wise first. When doing a tutorial like this it takes approximately 3x as long to complete everything. I have to make sure I have the time for everything. Jets take up a lot of room as you know, I don't want to rush anything, plus I'm waiting for the jet to ship it's gonna be bad ass though, let me tell you!

I for one will be patiently waiting. I took my F-4 to a custom painter and he quoted me $1500.00 to do a three color paint job. I thought that was a bit extreme. I have some paint experience but I would like to see your presentation from start to finish.

Is the airplane in primer with all the puttying, sanding, and prep work done and ready for paint? If not $1500 is too cheap a price. There is a tremendous amount of work involved in painting as you will see form Jeremey's tutorial if he does it start to finish.

I told him that I would have it puttied, and in primer before he got it. I also told him I would help with the wet sanding and mask. He was talking quality of finish more then anything else. He tossed out that price far a "Pretty good" finish. A "Show quality" finish would be more, a lot more.
