John,
I watched Eric Carl fly the FunSonic in the prototype 72" Ziroli Panther during both the Bardstown jet meet and Superman. I'd guess he logged over 3 flights per day. Probably more. Seems to have good power to turbine weight. The Panther was originally DF equipped then converted to turbine. The FunSonic seems the perfect match. Often he was at half throttle in flight even with an aircraft that size.
Sorry I don't know anything more about the engine than that.

At Warbird Over Indiana, Eric Carl flew at least 3 flights per day with the Ziroli Panther mentioned earlier. Shawn Cassidy was also there flying his 21 lb F-104 with a Funsonic turbine. It had very scale-like performance with the Funsonic. Both seemed to run flawlessly.

I'm with John.
I'm also seeking some info on the Funsonic Turbine. It seems like a good deal, but I'm afraid to sink $2500 in turbine that does not run. Also, any other suggestions on a suitable model for this turbine?
Check out the Funsonic Turbine here:

Thanks for your help.

They are running well over here in Europe. I've not heard anything bad and have ordered their 120 size (25 lbs). They are a good value for the money and Kirsten is very responsive to questions.

Spend the extra $200 for a P-70 or $600 for a P-120 and dont live in fear of wasting $2500. Its much easier to buy something that there are so many of instead of rolling the dice that the cheaper substitute will work. Also, servicing will probably be easier with Jetcat because there are so many of them around and the service is done here in the US. Even if you dont get a Jetcat...why not get something that is a proven turbine instead of being the one to prove it yourself?

Here is a video of a suitable plane with the Funsonic. Nice Airframe.

Well....I was just sayin that it sounds to me like if this guy buys a $2500 funsonic turbine and it doesnt work, he cannot afford to replace it with anything and will simply be out of luck. I hate to be in those shoes. So I said why not invest an additional $200 for a P70 or $600 for a P120 or a little more for any other PROVEN turbine instead of being the guinea pig. Lets face it...Im not the most experienced turbine pilot, but I have never seen a funsonic except NIB. I guess they didnt like that.

Ronnie, I am not sure it was your post but I thought a post was missing and then when you said yours was gone I assumed that was the one. I remember a post by someone that mentioned some other lower cost turbines though...Sorry if I made a mistake....

for the same money you can buy a PSTJ600R with more thrust.
After reading about what's getting deleted here I'm sure my opinion will be deleted as well, but I watched that video with the F18 (great to hear the top gun soundtrack again, it's not used enough
) but if that is part of their advertising/promo, man, how lame is that?! A poor midi file of the music to make it sound even more childish and I'm sorry, this is strictly my opinion, but first impression goes a LONG way with me, the name Funsonic, and the first time I saw it in air scoop in MAN made it look like a toy, almost like a joke. I saw that panther fly at Superman, it was ok. Definitely no better than any others that I could tell but it was ok. I just felt like the whole presentation was almost childish.
I guess until I see more of them running than the one that the company is there promoting I'm not willing to dump my dollars into it. Just my 2 cents.

I saw a F-104 fly at Ozark Mountain Jets that was a pretty heavy plane and the Funsonic pushed it along at a pretty good pace.. Not bad for a light turbine with 12 lbs. thrust...If you want to see which F-104 I am talking about go to the post about the OMJ fly and look for the F-104 with a natural aluminum covering job on it. I am guessing the plane weighed in at around 17 to 19 pounds and this 12lb thrust Funsonic that as I remember weighs only 1 1/2 pounds did a good job with it....
