RE: Morris Hobbies Turbine Jet ARF?
I noticed that the other day. I sent Mick an email but have not gotten a reply.
Because the text says "We were really impressed with the fine quality. fit & finish and overall looks of this Jet! The factory has been experimenting with this Jet as a Prototype for a few years now and now for the first time offers the production version of the model."
I'm wondering if this is a knock off by a company/factory overseas that tends to do a lot of knock offs. If it is the same company/factory that I've dealt with in the past, their products are generally lacking in quality.
I'm curious if anyone has purchased one of these "Reaper ARF's" yet. Would be interested in comments.

The canards, canopy, nose, and top hatch are different from a Super Reaper...I wonder if it may be the original Reaper ...just speculating.....

Cactusflyer,
You are one of the dirtyest people I've ever seen on here, you just don't know how to act, I'd hate to think you were piloting an airplane that I was taking a ride in.

LOL!!! "Ya you say that Justin....until you need to get somewhere CHEAP!
Well at least the turbines that I choose to work with start "out of the box" and don't need to be torn down after a couple runs!! Now quit playing turbine manufacturer and get back to studying for your mid-term exams.
I find it interesting that you have claimed on numerous occations here on RCU to have no connection with Joe Junk, yet you are offended when the reality of the situation is presented to you all who comment. But over on RC Groups, you and Russ take a more formal stance in that you call yourself a rep and Russ complains about individuals slamming "your" engines. All I ask is that you do it right. Pay for advertising, pay for liability insurance and set up a business before you promote as such.
Still laughing,
John

RE: Morris Hobbies Turbine Jet ARF?
I for one am NOT a rep for JETJOE at this time, i have recieved nothing in the way of payment, or a free engine. And would have no real job as there is no engine for sale to the US public to REP, YET. If i DO become a rep in the future i will most likely recieve $200 bucks off an engine. Not hardly worth fooling with you. When i refer to "our" or engine i am reffering to Justins, i do NOT have one. I only Work on HIS. Justin can fight this battle here and on Groups from this point on. Russ

Apology accepted.
I have always believed that.
Good things are not cheap and
Cheap things are not good.
You may not get what you pay for
But most of the time you pay for what you get.
So where is the best place to get a reaper kit?

It certainly appears to be a Reaper clone, especially since they use the word "Reaper" in their ad. My guess is that Mick Reeves will have a little cow over this one. Interestingly, I was told this model does not have functional rudders, which it will need to be "legal" at AMA field here in the US, but the pic shows what appears to be rudders.

Hey guys, I've defended Justin before, but I always call a spade a spade. Justin, yesterday your signature line said something like Jet Joe rep and today it does not.
I've seen you repeatedly change your signature line back and forth. While I support that you are entitled to do whatever you want, I don't play backup on guys that are wishy washy. Rarely do I back off a position. So if you're gonna come on here and "secretly" defend jet joe, just cause some guy comes on here and makes a slight joke, which I thought was funny by the way, at least do it in a capacity that makes sense.
Hope you're getting me,
Sean

Best place to get a Reaper kit is direct from Mick Reeves. Email your info and card number and you will have it in less than 10 days. I have found him to be quick to respond, and usually I get my order faster than if I had ordered from someone in the U.S. He also is quick to ship spare parts. Just my 2 cents worth.

RE: Morris Hobbies Turbine Jet ARF?
I have spoken to Mick Reeves about this model and been advised by Mick that it is nothing to do with him.
He had just become aware that someone had copied his Super Reaper design and produced it as an ARF, but had not found which company was selling it. Now he is aware that Morris Hobbies is selling this copy he will be taking action on two fronts, these being that the design has been copied, and his model name has also been used, leading customer's to believe this is a Mick Reeves model.
The name Reaper was originally used by Mick for an earlier turbine trainer, with the styling being (very) loosely based on that of the F-117 Stealth Fighter. This resulted in a particularly unattractive model, with the resultant lack of sales. Mick then designed the Super Reaper, which is the current larger and less unattractive model that Morris Hobbies have now copied.
I built an example of the Super Reaper a couple of years ago for a review printed in Radio Control Jet International magazine.

RE: Morris Hobbies Turbine Jet ARF?
I've communicated with Mick too and while he intends to take action, I'm not quite sure what can be done. Gary is correct, Morris Hobbies is only acting as a distributor for the factory located in China. I read too in another forum that the same product was being sold in New York through a know importer of hobby products.
Considering where Mick's company is located (U.K.), I don't think he will be able to stop them from selling the jet in the U.S. or even the factory from making them. I'm quite surprised that they kept the name of the jet somewhat.
Being a Reaper owner myself, I'm kind of torn both ways on the issue. While I would certainly like to see a cheap ARF jet in the $400 dollar range, I wish it would have been a different design then of something already in the market. And knowing how much I abused my Reaper a few times, I wonder if the construction methods used by the Chinese company can hold up.
