That is an AMA no no, here is the US. The AMA Turbine rules specify NO AFTERBURNERS.

There is an engine advertized in RCJI for Europe with an afterburner.

Skypipe is the name of the afterburner in the ad that is allways in the RCJI. Not too much info in the ad, however...

Wouldnt you just be injecting more fuel into the hot exhaust stream which would burn and add thrust? (as well as a heck of a flame!)

Guardian,
if you go to the Pratt and Whitney and GE web sites you can see cutaways of engines with ABs attacthed to them-all you need is the tail pipe-fuel injector spray ring-igniter-(spark plug-glow plug)-flame holder-a pump to pump the fuel in and when you get it all done and tested so it works like you want-bring that dude out here to Rabbit Dry lake and test fly it!

Default burning question

two years ago, jet meeting rosental, i have seen turbo didis plane with a skypipe afterburner. it produced considerable more thrust with it, and the flame behind the thrust pipe was spectacular.
unfortunately the plane failed at take off, obviously because of disfunction of the combustion. it landed in the near field after take off.
as far as i know, an afterburner does not improve the performance of our planes, because the thrust/weight relationship is not good at all. in addition to this the extra tail pipe decreases thrust in the "non afterburner" mode. the fuel consumption is extraordinary too.
