Default P70 inverted?

I would like to know if anyone has installed the jetcat p70 or any other turbine inverted, with the glow plug on the bottom? Jetcat states to keep it vertical +/- 75deg, I would like to have it close to 160 to 180 deg for ease of removal in my s/m saab.

A friend here inverted his P-120 . It worked for a while and then it stopped to start. Seemed that the glowplug was not able to light up the gas. Then he had the clever idea to light up the gas with a bic lighter at the tailpipe. after almost loosing his eyebrows, he accepted this new procedure as a good idea, and he continued to fly... after about half a dozen times doing this, the turbine began to make metallic noises and broke... so, IMO don't think that's a good idea after all.

I have a wren MW54 running in just about every thinkable angle....it has no regular mounts, so as i mount an d unmount it, the angle changes regularly. Sometimes the glowplug is up, sometimes down.....doesn't really matter, runs and starts just fine either way around.
Starting with a regular lighter never posed problems either, just get that hand out of the way quick

I have run a SimJet 3000 and now a Merlin 160 with the glow plug at 6 o'clock. No problems at all.

I really don't think the propane gas cares what is up or down...

We like to have you keep it out of the 6 oclock position for the following reason. If you happen have any raw fuel in the combustion chamber at light off you will get a truely flamey hot start. All the fuel will be sitting on the plug and once ignition occurs you have a real mess. Other than that it won't have any effect on hte operation, it is just one of those "what if" safety items.

I know of many people who have the jetcat engines inverted (i.e. glow-plug facing down) and I have a P120 in a Gripen inverted and no problem starting. Todd has had over 200 flights on his Eurosport with the P120 inverted as well..not an issue

a friend runs a RAM750+ airstart inverted in a Rookie with no problems....

a problem might occur if you flood the turbine with fuel fro filling tank with valve open to turbine or over prime by manual fuel pump control.

Reg. your theory about raw fuel and inverted mounted engine: Would not the raw fuel still be ignited a second later when the propane is ignited...?

I actually think it might even be safer to have it mounted inverted. One time I flooded my inverted mounted SimJet 3000, and it would not ignite because the glow plug was submerged in fuel... All I had to do was to hold the plane vertical and ran the starter a few times to drain the engine. Then it ignited safely on the first try.

Thanks for the feedback, it is installed with the glow plug at the 4 oclock position and I will do some test runs tomorrow.
