GPS function on JetCat ECU

Hi Wojtek,
If you have not seen the new manual, everything about the GPS is in it.
It is mainly designed to be a speed sensor without having to use the pitot tube. All of the other control software is the same, it just reads velocity from the GPS sensor. The sensor is a little less that 2 inches in diameter, like a little hockey puck.
The sensors are not yet available (we do not have a distribution channel yet, the sensors are selected, tested, and off the shelf).
All of the other data is available from the data download as well, so someone creative could plot the position of the plane during the whole flight.

That would be cool to map a flight.
Have you seen the new windows software yet? It runs fine but we are having trouble with the installation program on Win 9X. On XP it works fine.
It is very slick. Hopefully we will have the installation problem figured out soon, but we are not very skilled with install stuff.

I installed the new software last week and played around with it a little Sunday. I did not do a lot with it because I was too busy flying. We will be at GSW this weekend and I will mess around with the new software some more. It looks very slick though.

Very COOL!
Question?
Every GPS I have used (full scale AH-1F Cobra, OH-58 Kiowa) will measure ground speed not air speed how will the speed limiter work if you have a 15 Kts head wind and limit the model speed to 150 kts would its actual air speed become 165 Kts to reach 150 Kts ground speed? Again its not a slam because this is very cool, it is just an observation.
Thanks

Just got off the phone with Bob Wilcox, and ammong other things I discussed the GPS function with him .. this thing is AWESOME !!!
the ECU will store GPS data every second for the duration of the flight ...
- latidute/longitude
- altitude
- direction the plane is pointed in
- ground speed
Once the GPS unit ships, im writing a windows program to use all this wonderfull data !! I will set up 3D flight path animations with variable view angles ! I will post here when i have the GPS and the software running ..
