Default Batteries

I had a short in my charging wires that melted my battery pak for my turbine.
It had 1700 mah cells, but they're the size of a transmitter pak.
I'm having trouble locating a similar size pak with a 1700 or higher rating.
SR doesn't list one that size, I'm going to call Batteries Plus today, but their web site doesn't show any.
Seems like anything bigger than 1200mah is a 'C' cell size.
I need more like a 'AA' size.
Anyone know where to get some?
I bought the original pak from Planes Plus, but I need it for this weekend, so I'm trying to find a local source if possible.
Thanks

Default 1700 AA packs

Hi Pete:

I use the 1400 and 1700 Sanyo AU---AA size packs. My source is Batteries America in Middleton, Wisconsin 608-831-3443.

If you have trouble getting one, I have a brand new pack I bought from them at their EAA booth that I could FedX up to you, but I am sure they have them in stock.

What kind of turbine are you using ?

I run one AMT 450 on some very small NiMH 1000 mah
and another AMT 450 on AA 1200 NiMH...

These small batteries will not work with autostart
turbines because they have to light that glow plug.

Tom, Eddie,

Thanks for the reply.
I have a Simjet 1700 with auto start, so I need the 1700's at least. I'd go to 2000, but I don't think I have the room for the larger "c" cells.
1700's are hard to find in the 'AA' size.

I'll try Batteries America.

Thanks

Default Replacement batteries

Hi Pete,

You can actually use down to 1250mAh cells, that what's being shipped with all the engines now. (1/2 C or 2/3 C cells) Just bear in mind that you'll have to recharge more frequently. Also as Eddie correctly pointed out, NiMh packs don't have the "umph" for an autostart engine, so stick to NiCd.

I would suggest, Sayno RC3000 sub C cells
They are NiHM but you can pull 50 amps on
them. They may be bigger that what you need.
If you need 6 cell
pack just order them from tower hobbies as
car packs..
