ET,
I have flown yellow on AMT Mercury turned down on power and it is great. Mine had smoke system so it is about as heavy as you can get one. I think the 500 is plenty of power and would let you make longer flights then mine.
I am currently finishing another with P-80 with full scale gear, doors and smoke. I am adding flaps to this one with functional tail hook also. Should be ready in a week or so just waiting on markings. It is already in full rivet detail.
Good luck with the 500 power.....It would be great to see many more flying.

I had Tamjets built me one. TonyF test flown it three times at our local jet meets. Flew great until I took it out for a little spin a month later and forgot where all the trims and dual rates setup was. I used same JR10x for all my planes and did not put back low rates on D/R for this F4 and got into an accellerated stall on one of the sharp turns three minutes into the flight...You can ask TonyF on how the F4 flew. Here are some pics:

Excellent! What was the all up weight? What did you use for retracts? Struts? How were the landings?

I was there at Prado when Tony F. test flew the F-4- he did a real good job of it and the landing was great- landing speed looks to be around 40-50mph.

Empty weight is 14 lbs. We used nose strut from Y/A, main are Spring Air with regular wire struts with BVM wheels and brakes. No gear doors. Here is the nose gear shot...
