Dear Birdofpray
Your Hawk looks fantastic, are you putting a smoke system on it.

No smoke system as of yet I want to see how well she will fly first on the P70 then if all goes well I may add doors and then the smooke system.

Is the kit "painted in the mold"? I don't see the seam lines.

Does the nose oleo/wheel retract fully out of sight? What retracting angle does the nose unit have?

It looks really good! have you waxed the paint or something ? it looks really shiny.
I've also noticed that you mounted your main gear with the wheels inboard rather than the scale outboard position, is there any reason?

regards
Florent

That looks really good. I have been waiting to see one of these fly with the smaller, lighter turbines. When I fly the prototype with he 120 I often think what a overkill it is power wise. I am sure the 70 will give that just right scale performance. I will keep my eyes open at Florida, and hopefully have one of my own SM hawks to fly there.
Dave.
All the production hawks have the formers set so the nose wheel can go fully away and gear doors fitted.
Florent.
I imagine the wheels are so that they go further away into the fuselage then put away (raised) If they are left in the scale way (Outwards) they can stick out of the bottom of the fuselage. This is already being taken care of with some new U/C Geometry that should be on its way from China as we speak. Again No big deal if you are not using gear doors but for those that want to the new legs will be a welcome modification.
Also the latest jets (made in Sky masters own factory) do have a better level of finish from the painted in the moulds. Still not perfect but it is very hard to get painted in moulds to be so, but a lot better than before and some other ARTF'S That said a quick polish makes a big difference. .

Ali, when gear are raised there is no worry about fitting gear doors, the wheel is retracted all the way in the housing area nothing exposed. Do you have a installating picturesof turbine and radio gear?

The finish on the ARF in not as if I were to have painted it, but as a Manufactured ARF I give it a 8 on a scale of one 1 - 10.

Ali, Despite what you say about fuselage finish I have to say that the finish on my Hawk fuselage is absolutely outstanding. I collected the gear yesterday so its full steam ahead to finish it, for review in RCJI. I am very impressed with the gear particularly the ball bearinged wheels ! I. too, am looking forward to hearing about its flight performance on a P70 as I have no engines between a P70 and a P160 until my PST 140 arrives. I am sure a P70 will be absolutely fine in flight but as I fly off grass its take off performance may be a little sluggish on that surface, BUT maybe not ! The trailing link gear looks to be perfect for grass ops.

Regards,
David Gladwin
