Should be gone from Ebay already. I reported it earlier to them as a possible fraud based on a similar email the guy sent me. Looks identical to a scam ran a few months ago with a turbine located in Italy.

Gotta love these scammers. I'm currently toying with some guy who calls himself "Prince Koko" from somewhere in Africa. He apparently needs help getting his deposed dad's money out of the country and is planning to pay me a handsome handling fee (about 2M). All I have to do is wire 'his accountant' $850 to open an account in my name, into which he can transfer the millions and millions of dollars! Who would have ever thought I could be so lucky?? It's kinda fun, cuz the jerk thinks I'm buying into this crap, and I'm eventually gonna come up with something witty to write when I'm done with him. Makes you lose faith in humanity, don't it?

If you want to be entertained sometime and enjoy humorous reading...check out scamorama.com
These are guys who have already come up with something witty, and they post all the back-and-forth between them and the scammers.
My favorites are the one that includes the Skipper, Gilligan, Mr. and Mrs. Howell, etc. and another with Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Alfred and the Commissioner.
Heck, one guy even scammed one of the Nigerian scammers out of $250 for a non-existent laptop...
good stuff.

Can I make a suggestion, Shawn(and everybody else)?
Don't mess around with these people. Delete it and move on. While scamorama is funny(it was mentioned in the New York Times last week, as a matter of fact) it fails to mention that these guys can actually be DANGEROUS. There have been about two dozen murders over this kind of thing...people get lured to Nigeria and then held hostage(a few hundred) or murdered( a couple dozen). For real.
And the Nigerian Government(a division of Shell Oil Co!) could not give a whip.
Okay, so maybe you are not daft enough to go to Nigeria over this, BUT...
The point still remains that these people are NOT as stupid as you think, and the more you communicate with them, the more you open yourself up, they can do all sorts of things...give you a keystroke logger virus, whatever. Don't assume they are stupid. They make hundreds of millions of dollars like this.
This scam, the nigerian oil thing, has been around for a long, long time, long before computers it was done via mail, and some people have gotten very rich over it, so don't assume YOU are zooming HIM, HE may be zooming YOU.
PS about ebay...
DO NOT GET INVOLVED. Don't bid on something to keep others from bidding, thinking you are doing the right thing...just report it and move on. EBAY has to get their act together, you are not the ebay police, and there is a chance that you might do the vigilante thing and hang the wrong guy. Cowboy justice OFTEN involved hanging the wrong guy. Report it and move on. THOSE scammers also often get upset, too, and they like to get revenge.

Ditto what ET says..... just report it and move on. I do think that cross posting some of these things into this forum is a good idea though. There have been some rather clever schemes that appear to target the R/C community sometimes, and I hate to see modelers get burned....
BTW Curtis, glad to see you're back. I've always enjoyed reading your sometimes "colorful" perpectives!

I looked at the ebay item and it certainly looks legitimate to me. The seller has over 700 positive feedbacks and takes Paypal. Also he says that the turbine can be picked up locally if you're located close enough. I have purchased over 70 engines on ebay (2 of them turbines) and I'd like to think that I could spot a fraud.
I believe the jet is located in Florida, the home a bazillion turbine pilots. Why not just see if you can find one of your brother jet guys who may live close to where the turbine is located and ask for assistance?
Why call someone a "ripoff" before you're certain?

Hi Bob,
i dont know what add your looking at but not the one we are talking about.
this guy has no feedback zero and was trying to sell a turbine boat not a plane or turbine. ,
it has already been removed. and i call them like i see them would never think someone with 700 pos feedbacks was a ripoff this guy has tryed time and time again. and i will report him everytime
thanks
