What size? Any specs? Does anyone make a bigger one? It looks kind of small in a couple of other pictures I saw. Like a 12lb'er

Shaun, there is one for sale right now on RCU. It is kinda worn out but looks fixable.
I think it was meant for OS .91, so a 12lbs should do it.

Hi david, what I meant is the one I saw looked like a 12 lb'er, I would have interest in something larger. I'm looking for something now as a winter project end of this year. A big one of these would fit the bill.

Hey Sean, the only company I know of that kits this plane is JD Models and yeah it's for 65-91 size fan engines.
I haven't seen a kit of this anywhere else, not saying it doesn't exist though.

You going to Waco next week?

Sean,

I believe the jet you are looking at is the Israeli Lavi, it is made by Andreas Dehn from Germany.

Sean,

Here is a link with some photos, but the site is Danish, I will do a bit of digging later and see if I can find the manufacturers site. The dates suggest discussions are going on so perhaps it is still available.

Nö - zu "Dehn" gibt es keinen Link.

Ist ein kleiner Perfektionist, der Modelle in Kleinserie nebenberuflich baut.

Du kannst ihn nur über Telefon erreichen, wohnt in Bielefeld.

Schau mal ins Telefonbuch -->> Andreas Dehn, Elpke (17a?).

Roughly translated this means "there is no link to Andreas, he is a perfectionist and produces limited kits, you can only telephone him, he lives in Bielefeld Germany and his address is in the phone book, Andreas Dehn Elpke 17a.

There appears to be a review of the kit/model in one of the Jet Power magazines.

Someon has mentioned a price of 1,000 euro, I guess probably about $1,300??

If your really really keen, I may be inclined to give him a call for you and get details...........

Let me know,

Gazzer

Bryce, how does it handle compared to a regular F-16?

Ronnie,

This jet was extremely stable and well designed, it had a huge flight envelope and could hover with the CG moved properly. It was also very, very fast. It had no bad tendencies and slowed right down and "set up" for landing especially with the speed brakes out. The biggest difference I noticed between the Lavi and the
F-16 was that a lot of F-16's tend to be a bit pitch sensitive at slow speeds especially entering ground effect if your speed is not just right. The Lavi did not display any of these characteristics, it would just slow down while you raised the nose a bit then "check" the attitude and it would stay there, very nice. It also had two very interesting features, the engine was located all the way in the back with virtually no tail pipe and there was no bypass or dedicated inlet to the engine. It just got the air from where ever it could.(And it still hauled ***.) Mine had a P-120 in it and if I remember correctly it weighed 31 lbs. After FJ I needed a canopy glass and Mr. Dehn was very prompt about getting it to me..............excellent response time his part! I eventually sold the Lavi to a gentleman who now has it as part of his collection. (Pretty much like the fullsize which is in an outdoor museum in Israel.) I regretted getting rid of it because it was one of those jets, that was solid and flew beautifully. But, at least it has a nice home.

Bryce

If you are interested in this jet, it's worth contacting Mr. Dehn, its definately "different" and flies even better than it looks.

Gazzer, yes please make contact I am serious. Please find out how much in American and what's included. From Bryce's picture, I'm gonna need the kit, struts (possibly retracts too, I have several pair of robart 630's, ask him if they will work)

From the picture, it does not look like I"ll need a pipe, but go ahead and ask how much for one, might just get a factory one rather than make my own.

Thank you!

Also want to know availability. I'll be making the order in laround than three weeks.

Sean,

Right, just had a quick conversation with Andreas, you must realise my German is not too good but we got there!!!

He is producing the kit to order effectively, the cost is 970 Euro for the aircraft kit and 670 euro for the landing gear. I think the landing gear is custom made by HV for this, so others would not fit straight away. But the wheels, brakes and air tank come with it too for that price. About one month to put the kit together.

He is going to send me a brochure which is in German, so I will do what I can to translate it for you, I am guessing you don't speak German?!. He is not on email or web, and therefore it will come by fax, maybe you can pm me with a fax number or I will see if I can scan it in and email it for you.

The instructions too are in German, but not likely to cause an experienced builder too many issues, and there are a fair amount of pictures, although I might have got that bit wrong!

The engine should be no more than 12kg thrust, he uses Frank Turbines but any such engine should be fine, I mentioned Jetcat P120, I am sure he said it would be fine!!!

He has not shipped directly or sold directly to the states before, so paying would likely be by bank telegraphic transfer and you would need to arrange shipment.

Soon as I get the brochure I will send it on to you, and then we can go from there.[8D]

I am sure you will be able to purchase one without too much difficulty and if I can help, I will only charge a modest fee!!! (Joking!!!)[>:]

Hope that is of value,

Regards,

Garry
