Default Florida Jets Awards

I was able to attend Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, I missed the weekend [].

For the first time, I also missed the award presentation, which is usually a really fun night. I did get my award for flying my butt off, but I'm curious about who else won, as there was some serious flying and there were many spectacular jets.

I was also looking for John Christiansen's Pictures as he takes amazing shots. Where can I see all those pictures, does he have a website?

Can anyone fill me in on who got what, with what and for what, because I did not see it on the Florida Jets thread?

This year was by far the biggest year yet.

Thanks.................Johnny Hernandez

A few that I remember:

Rick Broussard - Kingcat (Holy Cr*p award)
Electric F-16
Sam Snyder - Sea Vixon (Kingcat in disguise)
Jack Diaz - Rafael Best multi engine
Jorge Escalona - Yellow F-18 (best graphics ??)
BV - F-86 Best of show
BVM SBandit (blue and yellow in color)

Please correct me If I listed something incorrectly. I'm looking for some pictures as well!!

Adil,
FWIW, there were a lot of us that thought you deserved an award for your F-14. Twin engine, swing wing, cool looking and great flying. Maybe you flew too late on Saturday and missed the judging but in my book you were a winner, hands down.

Craig,

Thanks a lot for the kind words. I was slightly disappointed as I gave it a good shot and everything worked out perfectly []. I did not think I was that late - Being so crowded and crazy, it was kind of hard to get up there sometimes. Plus I was also busy flying my Suber Bandit and a friends DV8R. I am very happy with all the compliments and hand shakes that I got and I guess that more than made up for it. I'm just glad that I was able to put up such a great show for the pilots and spectators. There are other events and the plane is all dialed in so who knows...

The best award that I could have imagined - I did receive. That was a bunch of friends and pilots got together and presented me a signed card for the best of show in their eyes. I was on cloud nine the rest of the weekend.

Thanks again,

Adil

Adil your F14 Tomcat is a beauty. I watched the entire flight while AMT tech was working on my engine. You handled it preety well my man inspite of all the crowd that were watching you. You were the talked of the town. Hope to see you soon.

The F-14 was very impressive. probably the most impressive model of the show foe me. just for the fact that it was different. I am sure if it had the right initials in the manufacterers name place it would have romped home with the prizes

How's it possible that a Pretty F-86 wins Best Of Show when you have a twin sweeping F-14 Tomcat ?

How's it that a Rafale that couldn’t land wins Best MultiEngine Jet when its been flown at 200 +?

Lets be real here, anybody can fly fast. I don’t know Adil, but I did take a good look at his Tomcat. It’s one of my favorite jets in the world and it was beautiful.

This is the second Jet meet that I bring my family to, and it was a great experience, but it was a very big disappointment with the way the judging was handled.
I bet you this year the new F-86 will also win Top Gun. Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful Jet, but the bull**** has got to stop. There are so many great pilots and builders out there that deserve recognition too. How's it possible that the new TamJets Superhornet Pilot wasn’t recognized?

Is this how it is in the jet world? I'm sorry, but I rather go back to my prop days if this is the current jet arena. I feel for those who were not recognized fairly. Congrats to those who were.

Ok Mitch,

so you're not happy Lets not get too crazy please.

I didn't see the 14 fly but if it looked in the air the way it looked on the ground than I have to agree that It should've taken something.

Is that it? I thought there were more awards...

Anyone?

Mitchell:
I agree with you 100% regarding the Best MultiEngine award.
Adil´s Tomcat was not only a work of art, but a great piece of engineering. Besides, he flew it beautifully.
My guess is that the judges thought that my Rafale was the only twin engine (as it has been in most events).

Let´s congratulate Adil for his work.

Jack

Sounds like you got "Pilots Choice" - hands down!! How you received that "award" - direct from peers - is often better than any official hardware. (I remember a particularly challenging mission in another life: A bunch of wise ***** crew dogs found a barf bag and each one of the crew expressed their "thanks" to me in writing on the bag.)

Congratulations, that must be one sweet jet!

Hi Adil:

Great job on your F-14.

Where do you do your flying ? I'm located just North of Allentown, Pa. and would like to stop over and do some flying w/ you and some of the other NJ jet pilots in your area.

Are you headed to Fentress in May ?

Best Regards

The F-14 ROCKED! Loved that plane. It was awesome on the ground and even better in the air.

Just my .02

That F-14 was cool and it was a show stopper everyone stood by just to watch it fly and at a busy event like FJ that says a lot...

The F-14 was perfect [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

By the way, I saw a few planes there that deserve good credit too...like the Vennon.

Are you guys satisfy with the judging thing at FJ...?

Just curious....

I'm from out of town....but I have the feeling you are touching a sencitive spot that not to many wants to talk about....[:-], Anyway I noticed most of the guys goes there for fun rather than been in a beauty contest...
I'll be next year for fun too....And If I'm lucky to win a award....well.....I'll pass it to this year F-14....cool. Adil, are you taking notes?

Exactly!!! I dont go to an event expecting to take home a trophy. Its nice, but I dont go home crying if I dont. I go to have fun and see friends. I dont think anyone goes to Florida Jets expecting to take home a trophy. Its an event, not a competition.

Em I think alot of people go to FJ to win something.
I think you have the best chance with a BVM kit than anything else it seems
