Default Keeping Thieves Off Jets

Hi,

I have just bumped into an rcu thread (Sale of Jets) and I was perturbed at the way some of our friends got cheated out of their hard earned money.
In this regard, may I propose the setting up of a some sort of clearing house for names and if people dont have their names on the list it means that they could be doubtful - a warning signal. One can get his name on the list through a character reference....after all we are a small community and we may know one another in the jet community.

This may not be a fullproof system and I hope we can find a way to get fraudsters out of this section of our hobby.

I hope some sort of initiative can made to save others from getting their fingers burnt.

Regards

I like that idea. I made/bought about 20 trades and got burned twice!

A few bad apples ruins things for the rest of the good people out there. However... holding witch hunts, and inquisitions isn't going to solve the problem.

Default Thieves listing!!1

This has been discussed on heli forums I view and bottom line is duplicate names and misunderstandings could setup legal grounds for lible cases. It was ultimately best to use a third party hobby shop or do some research on individuals. Getting addresses and AMA numbers was also suggested to verify with AMA headquarters, for a long lost modeler friend, either confirming or denying said address and number.......Also using postal service was also a way to bring in the government on postal fraud charges should things go wrong.. PayPal is NOT a way to go since all they care is that something was delivered...
That the way I understand it. There are alot of crooks out there that are not modelres who know the value of helis/jets and prey on the good nature of us modelers. Good luck..............
