Has anyone done or even givin thought to modifiying some of the larger ARFs out there now such as the skymaster F-18, F-15 or Composite ARF Euro, to accept twin 12 to 14 lb engines vs the one large engine ?
I know the question will be WHY?, for me it is the neatness factor of acutal twins and the avialiablity of the smaller motors to me. Russ

I was thinking of taking the Skymaster for example, Hogging out the formers just a little bit and installing an overlay that will enable me to mount the 2 engines. The tail pipes should not be an issue. I think the sound would be awesome. Russ

If you building it for US use you had best include By passes .. so that it will conform to AMA rules BTW a twin sound just like a single, I cannot detect any diference ( that is on a Me 262)

If a twin turbine powered model does not have bypasses in it, then it will not be allowed to fly at some AMA events. This is going to be the decision of the event CD and some CDs have already stated that bypasses are the only effective means of partitioning.
Why take a chance?

510-A Safety Code for Model Aircraft Gas Turbines
#5 under Airframe Requirements: Enclosed multiple engines must be segregated in separate pods or partitions where exhaust gases cannot mix causing cross-ignition.

If you want an event CD to have a "legal reason" to ban your twin JetJoe powered ARF to fly, then just leave the bypasses out.
