It's Friday afternoon here in Lakeland, Fl. and the static judging just ended. The contestants will not know their results until they fly their first round of competition flying tomorrow morning. Sung had a couple of practise flights on the Panther yesterday, and the plane is dialed in. Weather is absolutely spectacular with clear skies, 85 degrees and a light breeze.
Pro Am started yesterday and after 3 rounds, the Top 10 pilots will continue to the final round Sunday afternoon. Pro Am is two classes... Pro and Am, flying in front of the same judges. There are no "builder of the model" rule in Pro Am, so it is strictly a competition on flying skills.
Tomorrow the flying will be in the Expert, Masters and Team scale classes with two rounds each Saturday and Sunday. Out of those 4 rounds, the avarage score of the 3 best are added to the static score.
I have been busy flying the L-39 in Pro, but will have time to shoot some pictures over the weekend.
More to follow tomorrow.......

And why will you have time to shoot pictures over the weekend now?

We are having a great time. The West Coast boys are doing good.
Justin blew up the main runway with his *****in' looking new snake-eyes ( he had Dave shulman telling him when to drop and Dave can't tell a runway from the grass area).
By the way, his Hun is one awesome, and I mean awesome looking bird!![sm=thumbup.gif]
Mark taylor and Bags are flying the Hun and seem to be hitting the mark either on the runway or with the beer bottles in the trash can.
I am trying to get up and down without hurting anyone.
We do the big stuff tomorrow and time will tell. There are 16 entrants in Team Scale, so now I know I won't be 17th! All I need is for 6 more guys to drop out and I can make the top ten.
Good luck to all. Results will be forth coming, I am sure.

From: Mexifornia,
John you are the man, if I could fly half as good as you then I wouldnt have to kiss so much Asian butt! I know you will do well, the plane you are flying is incredible and you are one of the best there is....and you know Im not kissing butt to get a JetCat!!! Speaking of kissing butt, what engine you got in that F-100?
All the best of luck to everyone that is participating. Sung and John make us proud, we are all rooting for you.

I am not 100% sure, but I heard second hand that he lost the plane today. (Saturday)
I hope it's just out for the event and repairable, but that's the latest.
More news when I know more.

Saturday breefing... Condenced version since we are leaving for the avards banquet at the Eaglebrook country club in 20 minutes.
The West coast guys are doing well. No damage, everyone finished their two rounds. Still to early to predict anything about the results, but Redman is flying really well. Especially when he borrowed Sung's Ipod and did his last flight to the Top Gun theme song
Quite a sight seing him nodding his head to the beat of the music while doing 180 Mph passes...
Sung had two good flights also. The panther gets a ton of attention, and he flies it beautifully.
Taylor/Bags are on of the highest scoring in static with their F-100. Combined with some good flying, they will kick butt also.
Justin Sands is one hell of a pilot. He is also doing extremely well in his class.
Static scores:
Justin 93.917
Sung/Nguyen 93.167
Redman/Rohrbach 96.250
Taylor/Bageman 97.000
First flight scores:
Justin 93.500
Sung 87.833
Redman 91.263
Bags 86.363
Weather: 92 degrees... Nasty direct cross wind, Lots of scraped wing tips and worse... (mostly east coast guys [&:]) Sunny
