Default Servo Wire

Hi Everyone,
Where is the best place to get heavy duty servo wire.(20 guage) and connectors? Also can anyone explain the use of filters on long extensions?I've seen two types, the rings, where the wire is looped through several times and also the clamp-on type.Which is the better type for R.C. applications? Thanks guys.

I have not seen 20ga, but use 22guage on everything, and have never used the filters, my large plane has 6' extensions to the elevators with two 8611's per extension with no problems inside a fuselage weaved with carbon.

Not aware of anyone making 20ga extensions or wire. Usually available in 22ga and 24ga. I believe I am the only company currently offering [link=http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=3]18ga[/link] silicone jacket extensions. Not sure what your application is but we have used up to 60" leads with no need for RF Fliters. The filters, or chokes as they are sometimes called, are used to block stray RF from finding it's way to the rx. Long leads can act as an antenna collecting unwanted signals...

I have purchased this wire from servo city...it is NOT 20ga.... they have the gauge incorrect.... the 22ga they list is actually 24 and the 20ga is really 22ga.

[X(].....then calling there to see if they correct that mistake could be the next move, unless your experience with them is recent....?

I have to agree with Todd. I just ordered a 50 roll of the "20" gauge wire from servo city. It is packaged in a Hitec bag which just says "HD servo wire". Upon stripping it and comparing to some 22Ga pig tail extensions, it is probably 22Ga. On Hitec's website they don't specify gauge. Just Heavy Duty and standard.

Don't feel bad. I did the same thing about a year ago. I've been meaning to call them and complain but keep forgetting.
