Shreveport Jets 2005
Got back a few hours ago from Shreveport jets 2005 and have a few pictures to post. I would like to thank the Shreveport gang for putting on a great event. Lots of flying, fun, and good tasting catfish!!! I took these pictures on Friday and was too busy enjoying the event on Saturday I did not pull out my camera.

RE: Shreveport Jets 2005
There were only 2 crashes on Saturday, one was a Roo and the other was a Bobcat. Saturday David, Vernon, and Phil put up the F-4's and did a good show. It was cool to see 3 F-4's scream down the runway. Doc waited till later in the day to fly his F-4 otherwise we probably would have seen 4 F-4's in the air at the same time.
Not sure who had the Reaction 54, but I got to see only fly on Saturday and later inspect it up close. Pretty cool plane if you're into building.
There was also a new Boomerang jet, but it never left the test bench. I would have liked seeing how it flew. Another impressive bird was the JMP Hustler. Great looking jet and the gear is tougher then anything else I've seen, huh Phil?
Ronnie's converted F-15 flew really good and made me wish again I had not sold my TGA F-15. Had a little problem on landing and busted the nose gear retract so it only got one flight. I'm sure we will see it fly again at Greater Southwest.
Again, thanks to the Shreveport gang for hosting a great event. I will definitely be back next year. Here are some more pictures from Friday.

Great pics JR.
Sorry about the Roo Brian []
Man I couldn't do anything right on this trip.
Crunched the nosegear on the F-15, went off roading with the AV8R several times, and when everything was finally going right with the F-7, it flamed out on a high speed pass and cracked some parts on the skid.
I guess it was just my turn for the unlucky weekend.

What channel were you on with your roo. I was on channel 15 when I got locked out. Did you have radio failure? I still havent heard anything about your crash. Sorry about it. I know how you feel.. It looks like your turnbine could be repaired as mine was a crushed mess.

What a great event !!! I captured over 300+ photos and over 3+ hours of Jet action. Please check out the link for over 50 photos. A special thanks for the S.A.R.K.S. CD for flight line access during the Saturday event.

Just got in a little while ago. Thanks to Kevin East and the gang from the Sharks club for a fun event. That was some fish fry Saturday evening at the field.
A couple of pictures of the State of Mississippi's Governors Mansion. David and Vernon are proud to be from the state of MS.
The third picture is one of the BVM approved activities at all jet rallys that David and Vernon attend.
Will post more pictures in a day or so.

It's hard to not have a good time when the level of flying is beat only by the friendlness of the pilots.
I had a great time!
There are alot of folks to thank for making it happen, form pilots to the club members that worked hard all week to make it happen.
Thanks to all!
Hope everyone got home safe.

David,
I was on channel 40, it did not go into failsafe because I had it programed to lower the gear and the retracts were still up . The Roo was in a sweeping left turn and snaped right and went inverted. I do not know what caused it but I do not believe it was interference.
Now it is time to order a new airframe and get busy.

Brian, sorry to hear about that. I'm trying to remember the linkages on your elevons, was it silver soldered? Did you see or hear any flutter? It seemed to me that when I saw them at MS, we spoke about the linkages in some way, but I don't remember specifically what.
The only other roo I've heard or seen do something even remotely close was Price's at Hearne a few years ago, he had audible and visual flutter but still got two full circuits before the airplane became completely uncontrollable and went in.

RE: Shreveport Jets 2005
Hey Sean,
I had threaded 4-40 rods with blue loctite and a lock nut on each clevis. I have gone over it a 1000 times in my mind and still can't understand why I could not get the plane straighten up. It happened pretty fast. I can only say I did not initiate the hard right turn and I was unable to recover.
The bright side is I may become a BV customer. I have my eyes on a KC

There were four birds in the nest, then two of then taxied out onto the runway. After about 2 hours of going over their check lists and running up engines, they finally took off for the first test flight and never returned.
Birds 3 & 4 were grounded because of poor flight conditions. Their flaps weren't working
