Default Frustrated with fuel Lines

Well I must be an idiot with these fuel lines on top of a recent attack of middle age eye sight. But since you guys are full of good tips, I will ask this elementry question.... How do you get those #$@%^$@ 4mm fuel lines that JetCat supplied on the filter, valves and fittings? All of the 6mm and 3mm slid on as expected. I have pushed and twisted and tried dish soap, spit and hot water, and stretched the ends open with the needle nose and still only have a few on. Arggg. SHould I go buy some new fuel hose?

Oh and the new eye sight is a real gift when trying to twist the safety wire... I finally admit defeat and accept this middle age plight. I will be buying a lighted magnifier for the bench tomorrow.

thanks
bob

Chew on the ends before you put them on. They are hard in any case.

A little heat from a lighter works for me.

I use my heat gun from my former life where I would shrink Ultracote. I don't even remember what Ultracote is......[sm=confused.gif]

I've found out that a #1 phillips screw driver with a 3/16 " shaft works the best, force the tubing on the screw driver, wait about a minute or so, then pull it from the screw driver and put it on the values or filters .

I have found that using a heat gun or lighter tends to stiffen(Harden) the tubing

Matt,

Is there a $50 tool that chews on the ends or do I wipe the tubing with liverwurst and give it to the dog? Ha ! Actually from this end.. that was the tip of the year. Thanks. worked like a charm... Just more proof that your teeth are the best tools that you have.

Heat you say? Same thing my wife said and it had crossed my mind, but I had flashbacks of my grandfather smacking me in the back of the head when I took a lighter to some pneumatic lines in a HVAC system I was helping him to fix. Live and learn,

thanks again.

PS Sunday is is scheduled launch day for the Jet Luge. If anyone in the Southern Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia area and wants to "help" I would appreciate it alot. I will buy beer and diner after. The only Turbine I have seen running was Bob Covish's when he showed me how he started it.

Looks good Bob. Be sure and get some video of the ride. Enjoyed helping with the schooling of the JetCat. Have a CO 2 fire extinguisher close by. You probably won't need it, just a precaution.

If you are ever in the Austin area, be sure and look me up. I still have the same KingCat with the same P120 on it. 174 flights as of today.

Be safe

Try with a bottle of a good wine and reduce the intensity of the lights

Seriouslly....I use a small plier tip into the tube and then split it and head....Anyway it will require sometimes quiet strong finger tips

Barry White. For some reason, it ALWAYS works, especially on blondes.

I always spray my fuel or air lines with Zip kicker before mounting them. makes them slide on easily, and the kicker evaporates in a matter of seconds, leaving no residue.

This way the lines retain their original size and the fit is not weakened after heating them or chewing on them.

I just outfitted my SM Hawk and used your idea John. The zip kicker seems to make the tubing slide on much easier.
