Default Dear World - Its Ready to Fly

Hi everyone,
I've been building this model on and off (mostly off) for 2 years but here it is ready to fly hopefully monday. Just something I wanted to share.

Digi servos
simjet 3000 (derated to p80 ish power)
15.5lb with full UAT and some fuel in the main tank.

Not wishing to go down the is it strong enough for that power - 3/8 carbon / ply laminated spars through the length of the wing and tail + loads in the fuss. She will be mostly off the power anyway.

All the best and wish me luck ay

It's throttle back with reluctance, and only then for landing.

Laura,

Not as much as what everyone was saying I'd have to (a few ounces) but I do run a backer on all my jets so there are 3 bat packs as far up the nose as poss.(2 reciever and 1 ecu)

I surpose I will have to get cracking with my bobcat now - just hope that doesn't take me as long as the starjet did.

Ant,
We had a Starjet many moons ago. Few ounces we had a strip of lead on the nose and had alot smaller engine in...It is a crap kit though, which probably didnt help with the time!

Has Pete opened up the Exocet yet? You may be able to give him a run for his Money!

Looks great ! I need to get working on mine again. Should be more than enough power ! What elevator servos did you use and are they stab or fuselage mounted ?

Good luck on the test flight !

Laura,
When have you ever known pete not to open his planes up. One thing that did shock me was that he asked to borrow my simjet data terminal to turn the power DOWN yes DOWN (on the exocet). Maybe he's going all soft ????? I doubt it.

At cottesmore he will most likely turn it back up.

all the best

A totally unjustified comment, based on my experience of building and flying two examples, one of whch I still have and will soon be back in the air with a rebuilt RAM 500. The StarJet is a sound, basic, kit which offers excellent value for money and superb flying characteristics.

Regards,

David Gladwin.

They are cheap. But you do get what you pay for. There isn't many around and i think that says it all! Laura

Ps: Having to strengthern the Fuz infront of the wing, with just putting a small engine in isn't asign of a good kit.

Well, I have an Exocet, and particularly for the money I think the kits are great, bang for the buck they're far better than the ultra expensive jet I'm building right now :P

Don't know what this lady is on about !
The fuselage nose needs absolutely no strengthening, but the fin area needs stiffening at the fuselage junction, Excellent kit for the money and a terific flying machine.

I love the Starjet. Mine had hundreds of flights on it when I sold it and it is still flying regularly with its new owner. The flying model is great but getting it to that stage is another story.. The kit is very basic and as far as im aware still shows a JPX installation rather that the more popular 54 size one. The wings take an age to build. It would be great if A.D live hinged at least the ailerons and tail planes and reinforce some week points on the fuselage.

Rutter The Nutter,

Weather is not looking too good tomorrow so Im not going to go to LM.I will save the day off work and go to cottersmore Friday.

David,
You keep forgetting to add "in your opinion," at the end of your post.
