I was wondering the same thing.

Hope everything goes well for you guys! It sounds like it is going to cool off some until the nights roll back around. Wish I could have made it, next year I will try to get the time off.

Have fun guys and be safe!

Kenny,

You should build another full tilt boogie Yellow F-18 to compete with next year. I'll come up with a secret project & join you. We will be guaranteed a first & second place finish that no other entrant will be able too dispute.

07 my friend.... 07, which I know is what you were thinking. Sure would be cool if USA lands the event for here in 2007....keep your fingers crossed.

Saturday July 30th, 2005 at 0545 hours

Today is the day where the static judging starts. Each team is allocated training slots over the next 3 days. Each slot is 35 minutes for the entire team, so we will have to have all the jets fueled and ready by the time we are up. We have decided to fly 3 jets at a time in order for all pilots to get stick time during training.

RE: Pilots. I would think that the rule book states that planes needs to be flown with pilots. Will look that up today.

I will make a short video today and post it so you guys can get a better idea of the field layout etc. BTW. We are 10 hours ahead of you guys on the west coast, and 7 hours ahead of the east coast. So, the next update will be when we return to the hotel this afternoon.

If they need to be flown with pilots, do the pilots need to be in there during the weighing? Thanks.

Flite-Metal is proud to clad many entries in this event...especially our USA team with Rob and Dustin glestening[8D] in the sun. Anxiously awaiting today's static results with anticipation that Dustin and Rob will shine proudly. Go get'em guys! Wonderful photo coverage John. Thanks for sharing the team's experience with us.

OK, It is time for the daily update again. It is now 9 PM Saturday and we just returned from the field. It was an exiting day. A few practise flights for the teams, two full size aircraft demos, the official opening ceremony and a lot of time spent talking to jet modelers from all over the globe.

So, lets start with the opening ceremony.

All countries where called up to stand behind their flag while the national anthems where played and the Jet Comittee welcomed every single one. The higlight of that whas when the team from Saudi Arabia had forgotten to bring a CD with their anthem, so they had to sing it instead. Great show guys...

Here are our guys

We had the most amazing LOW level aerobatic show here today, performed by Zoltan Veres in his Extra 300. I have been to countless airshow over the years, but never seen anything like this. Snaps and ro;;s at eye level, Inverted flight down the entire length of the runway with the rudder 2 feet of the ground. IMPRESSIVE.

In the final act, Zoltan knife edged the Extra straight over the spectators and in between two of the airport buildings. I could not believe my own eyes.

I was standing at the edge of the runway, and in one pass I was less than 20 feet from his wingtip while the extra was inverted (See photo) Almost soiled my pants

Look at the farmer who ran out to enjoy the free airshow, and a free Corvus oil dusting of his crops

3 of the local Zlin's gave us a nice formation flying demo. Nice and tight from take off to formation landing.

They also rolled at eye level, so I got a good look inside the cockpit[&:]

Rod Snyder got his first practise flight today. The F-100 looks good, and Rod ended his flight with a perfect touch down on the centerline.
