Default KINGCAT FLEX plate ?????

Well last night was my second time on a grass field and the second time I came home with a cracked flex plate on the mains.

What is up with them, I have heard of double or possible alternate materials. can someone shed some light on a better solution than one factory plate as supplied for grass field operation????

Thanx..............

Just double them up and you should have no more problems. Check this thread:

The flex plates were sanded a little bit to guarantee the adhesion. You can use 1/2 hour epoxy or Aeropoxy.

Do you really have to have a bond between the two?

Yes, is better you bond them...so they act as one single structure....
We also noticed that they always brakes at the taped 4-40 holes for the retracts..... it seems that it apply some kind of stress over there.....Perhaps instead of tapping the holes for 4-40 thread....could be better to use a washer with nut.

PS.: after giving some thoughts.....definitely gluing both is mandatory or one will help to brake the other at the holes for the retracts.

I have a few Aluminum KC plates (4-6) I made on my CNC mill..

They are $25 each... $50 per plane.. mains only...

I can run another batch if I run out..

Eddie, can you post a picture of the kingcat set? Are they already tapped?

When I get home I will post some pics.. Yes they are tapped...

I know these plates fit... But I don't know how much stronger they are...

I am sure they are tougher against impacts, but they still may bend some..
They are not near as strong as the Titanium one I made a for the SB.

No worries, the only reason I want a picture is on the stock plates, I have to grind a corner of the plate to allow my retract line to get between the wall of a former and the plate. I don't know how much work that would be to put that notch in on a titanium plate. And I don't know if everyone else out there is running their retract line in this configuration.

That's great, bring a set to GSW, I'd like to see them (if you're not sold out by then).

I guess I'm a second class person. Mine doesn't have the notch for airlines. [:@]

Ditto the above-Double 'em up and go fly. I fly off of grass exclusively and went thru 2 or three sets before doubling them up-No worries since then. I know they are supposed to fail, but based on feedback from everyone else, they are a bit weak right out of the box. Then again, maybe I need to work on my landings

Does anybody know if this is an issue with the smaller Bobcat composite?
If I plan to fly off grass should I double up the main gear flexplates?
Thanks

I tried a new method of holding down Aluminum in the Mill..

I just glued some 1/8" plate to a 1" plate.. Cut it... drilled it.. and tapped it... no problem..

Anyway I ran a new batch of KC flex plates... If you want I can cut the notch but you will
have to tell me how many air lines you want to pass through there..

$30 for two..

Hi Eddie,

If you have not gotten another commitment, please PM me your address and I'll send you one. I have a spare pair so it not a problem.

Thanks - Adil
