Bob,
You'll be pleasantly surprised on how tough the gear are. Only complaint I've had was that the steering bushing for the nose gear is a bit sloppy and Robart should be doing better job with tighter tolerances.

Out here in Australia, we only have grass fields. One field I fly at is littered with cow pats. No problem with the retracts.
