This is the first time in quite a while that I have had my BV F100 together . Im very excited because its getting pretty close. I applied Filte Metal and now Im working on air lines for retracts, brakes, speedbrake and doors. Lines are almost done, then I will set up radio and pray for a motor to come soon. Think I have made up mind to use AT 400 for power. I will probably test fly before finishing exterior. Thinking about just sticking a coors light decal on side and say to hell with it.

Scott,
Very nice job!!! Good craftsmanship---nice looking glue joints. Tons-o-room in that bird. Tell me, how do you like the Flight Metal? I've got an F-86 that I want to do in a Skyblazers scheme and I've been kicking around the idea of using Flight Metal or Coverite Presto. I want it to look polished. I've seen Shalish Patels' Sabre and it is stunning. (Presto covered) All of the Flight Metal jobs that I have seen have been scuffed, so I really haven't had the opportunity to see an unscuffed Flight Metal job up close and in person. Is it easy to apply? Again, good job!!!

Hi Kevin,
Let me tell you, I'm no Flite Metal pro by any means, but it was very easy to cover with. Flite Metal doesn't want to bubble and it can be worked or formed fairly easy. Flite Metal will stretch so it will go on most any surface shape. A plane this big will definately get monotinous. Flite Metal in its raw form is very shiny, but probably not as shiny as Presto. I have tried Presto, but without success. Presto bubbled very easily and it's like a sticker. Its thin, which will weigh less, but much harder to apply than Flite Metal. You should ask Rich Fong about Presto. He covered his F100 with it. I have yet to try and polish Flite Metal, but I think it will probably shine up very easy with buffer. I am very happy with the results I have obtained so far and I have a long way to go to finish scale appearance. Give it a shot, it was really pretty fun to do!
Thanks for the nice feedback Kevin and Mike!! I'm very excited to see this baby coming alive.

Scott,
You're the man. That F-100 is BEAUTIFUL. I'm insanely jealous. Just don't have enough contracts in my business (YET) to get one of those.
I've heard they are just too easy to build as everything is A, B, C, 1, 2, 3 laid out in the instruction manual and plans. What are your thoughts?

There's really not that much building to do. All composite except for rudder and flaps. The airplane has alot of prefabrication. Most of the critical stuff is already done. The airplane was built in a few weeks. The covering took longer and so will the installation. I've been dragging my feet because I dont have an engine. If I had an engine this would of been done months ago. I have to say this is one awesome airplane that is built like a Sherman Tank. Beautiful glasswork and the instuctions and plans are thorough. Very complete kit with EVERYTHING you need and plenty of it. Not missing a single screw.
I looked at this plane very seriuosly since the day I saw it fly at Greater Southwest in 2000. I knew I had to have this plane. I never once have had buyers remorse. Its worth every penny. I couldnt be more happy.

Scott,
Joe Grice had the same comments about this kit. Only took him a few weeks to build it but eight months to detail it----Museum piece!!!
Did you use the special tools that Flight Metal offers or did you come up with your own method of application? Joe Grice said that he did not clear coat his after the application of the dry transfers---How do you plan to do yours? I'm concerned that if I polish it and need to clear coat it, the clear won't stick. I guess that a mid-coat adhesion promoter would be necessary.
