Y/A F16 Nose gear door
To all who have built this bird, you know how little room there is in the nose gear bay. How did you mount the air cylinder for the door? Pics would be awesome. If you have pics, you can email to [email protected]. Thank You very much!!!!!!

I think I got some shots of what Shaun had sent me awhile ago. I'll try and post them tonight, it's basically not that bad to set up. I just followed the instructions but do have a problem with keeping the doors flush when closed. Hopefully Shaun will jump in when he see's the post.

Jaye

Hi,
Yes! The Achille's Heel of the F-16, that nose gear door. Well, hopefully, we're talking about the new one. If so, put the air cylinder exactly where they show in the instructions. I heated the corners of mine up with hot water and bent them inward, then cooled them in cold water. You have to mess with it a little, but when I was finished, the door closed flush. As crowded as it looks, there's enough room for everything to go in. I don't have access to it right now, but maybe Jay Powell can get a pic or two in here.

I have the old poly version, didnt see anything in the instruction manual about the doors. I have the door hinged, and it looks almost like a perfect fit.

Thanks Chaseman1
received pics and instructions today, Thanks You very much . It looks as if the new version of the F16 has a slightly longer gear door opening? Where the door strut cylinder goes on the new one, it couldnt possibly fit on the old one because the nose gear itself is pushed all the way to the front of the gear door opening. Maybe I will have to cut the door open a little farther ahead and extend the door forward or could I move the gear itself back a smidgeon and not have any adverse effects? Suggestions? Also on the main gear doors, the molded pieces look as if they are not large enough for the opening. Do I have to add material to the doors or the fuse? Maybe I am missing a piece here because I have bought the kit second hand. TIA......
