Default beginner jets

Hi guys, beginner to jets here, I'm looking to buy my first jet, hopefully a ducted one as I just don't like the idea of a prop sticking out the back of the jet as it totally ruins the appearance (IMO).

Anyway, can you please advice on what brand/model I could look at online, in terms of price, ($200 below would be great if any) scale-look, and of course ease of flight and speed. Hopefully someone can suggest f-14 or f-18

Thanks in advance!

Shaun

For $200 and below I don't think there are any ducted fan kits out there in that price range.......?
You could always scratch build something to make things a bit cheaper. There's lots of good plans out there for sale and download of the Internet. Have you ever scratch built before?

The only jet kit/arf available for $200 or under that I know of would be powered by electric ducted fans. Take a look at www.ductedfans.com or www.warbirds-rc.com to get an idea of what is available in your price range.

The only DF I can think of for under $200 is the Kamdax Mig 15. By the time you put in the radio equipment it will probably run about $250.

They are certainly not in the same class as a 91 sized DF, but they are a blast to fly.

There are several threads on RCU if you care to learn more about it.

Unfortunately I have never scratch built before

Sorry guys, I should have been more specific with the ducted fan question, I actually meant just EDF, I know it would be definitely more than $200 for anything above edf.

I've checked the links below that you guys have posted, thanks very much for them. I think the Kamdax mirage2000 is ok, yes?

There is also an EDF forum. You might want to try there as well.

I don't mean to take away from RCU but if you go to www.rcgroups.com and check out the electric jets section you'll find TONS of information. Those guys are into electric jets big time!
Hope this helps!

I've built 4 of them and they are great flyers, but the $189.00 price tag is deceiving. You will have $750 - $1000 in it by the time it's RTF.
