RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
ET,
You mis-understood his post, he said that F106A is correct (me) that the next jet will be a composit Bandit, not that he's releasing a F-106.
How did you make out at Hackensack yesterday? That field is less than a mile from where I work, but never see any activity, maybe it's all on the weekends.
BRG,
Jon

RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
It will take a TITAN or a P-180 to fly this Composite bird. Just hold on to your horses and all will see it at Superdude. Let BV do his job and work things out with the new bird before showing it off. We can wait. Good things come to those who wait!

How did you know I was at Hackensack? I put in eight flights or so, it was fine. I and my buddies are out there on weekdays quite a bit, it's usually pretty quiet. Nowadays, I am almost never out there on weekends, but it's not usually that crowded there on weekends, too. It's a nice place to fly, provided you don't end up in the swamp. It's NASTY out there. I lost a Mirage out there a few weeks ago, went out there in my Rover, stood on the hood, looked around a bit at the nearly unnavigable weeds, did not see the plane, and just wrote it off. Not worth it, tackling those weeds. Maybe in the winter.
As far as the next magnum opus from BVM goes, until he announces it, I would be pretty skeptical, he could change his mind at any time. When the product is REALLY ready, he will announce it, and I'm sure he has more than one project in the works.

RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
BVM does not think its fair for pilots to wait in anticipation and hold up any fun money just because they heard that someone will be coming out with a new jet
In my mind, the only reason that manufacturers do this (and one has had the balls to tell me this) is that they don't want to disappoint (or face the bad press) if it doesn't work out right.
As an example. I had heard rumours about a 12lb class Eurofighter. Now I know that one is being worked on, I have reduced my spending so that if it does become available I will be able to buy one straight away. I do this in the knowledge that it may never happen. Provided the manufacturer has the willpower to hold back with release of the model until it is absolutely ready (which BV is famous for) then I would prefer details to be released as soon as possible. If nothing else it proves to the world that development is continuing on new exciting models.

Siclick, you can play that game forever and never buy ANYTHING. There is ALWAYS some newer, better, cooler plane coming on the market, right after you bought your present plane.
I think BVM is VERY canny in his marketing, and he has learned from experience just how to handle this. I won't second-guess him on this issue, I think he knows just what he is doing, and learned over the years to NOT announce anything too early.
After all...this will be, what, his 20th kit release or so? I think he knows what he is doing, I have to give credit. When he announces it, it will be very close to being shipped, I am sure.

RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
Et,
You mentioned on the AMA thread you were going to a field by Giant Stadium.
My friend used to fly there many years ago. When a plane went into the swamp, they would rent a seaplane over at the Little Ferry seaplane base, now long gone, for 15 minutes and they'd usually find it. Getting to it was another issue. Like you, most guys would just write it off instead of trying to wade through the swamp. I remember an engine he had that was really pitted after a couple of days in that brakish water.

RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
Hi,
Unfortunately, BVM's market are not modelers with "limited funds". I would love to build and fly a BVM jet, but there's just no way I can justify spending that kind of money on a model, even if I had it.
They sure are nice to watch fly though!

Jon

I agree completely.
When you are a leader in the field everyone is shooting at you.
BVM should be flattered by all the negative comments.
I just thought RC Modellers were better than regular humans.

Way to go, alexdu! Congrats!
Heatseeker, that's the first I am hearing of an Airacomet. But I have talked to ANOTHER guy who has had his hands on the molds for an A-7 corsair! So...who knows? Maybe both exist, but neither is his next release! Only The Bob really knows...

RE: BVM'S NEW JET??????
i am just making it up anyway seems everyone alse is and couldn't resist. I`d like it to be a big a7 that would have great presence in the air which i feel most bvm models lack. probably cos apart from the f100 they all look a bit plastic. i think people forget that military jets do not have a perfect gloss finish.

I was out there yesterday, got some flying in. You should come by sometime, it's a very low-key nice bunch of guys.
The old seaplane base, Bill Winter used to fly out of there.
I have five planes out there in the swamp right now, yep, it's a bummer! I once had to throw out all the clothes I was wearing when I foolishly waded through the river muck. I had to drive through the Lincoln Tunnel in my underwear. True story.
Crusader? Could be. I bet a bookie would rate it pretty high odds...it's a great plane, it's a fighter, and The Bob flew them in the Navy. I have the old JD models Crusader, a great flyer. Nobody makes a Crusader right now, too.
