Default Just curious...

I'm not looking to change the rules, or to criticize, but I have heard many, many times that there are kids watching this forum.
I don't know, maybe there are, maybe not. I have no idea.

Any kids out there actually watching this forum?
Chime in and say hello.

I understand your concern and that's a very good question to ask. IMO, the vast majority of these "kids" are, in all likelyhood, teenagers. Are they little kids? Of course not, but, as a father myself, I wouldn't want my teenage son or daughter interested in the hobby seeing some of the things that get posted on the internet and RCU should be no exception to that rule. It is a coordinated effort for all of us to "keep it clean". I'm guessing that this may be one of the reasons for your question.

Regards,

Richie

Seems pretty obvious. The permissible content of threads here on RCU is based on the premise that this is a family-oriented web-site, and that you should not post anything that is unsuitable for e.g. an 8 year old kid to view. If no kids chime in to confirm that they do in fact come in here, then presumably ET can consider petitioning to have the RCU content guidelines reviewed and perhaps adjusted so that the "BIG kids" don't hafta be quite so careful about what they post and how they phrase things.

Father myself asked why as I've seen nothing on this well run website with responsible users that I wouldn't want my daughter to see so I thought it was strange to single out any age group of users???? thats all - fair to question some one who is I think. Old enough to type old enough to fly - afford jets ???? only for the lucky few.

Leaving this thread for good I think.

I don't think the age at which you can afford a jet is relevant, as not everyone who comes into this forum owns a jet - some are just interested to see what's going on.

As to what people think is ok for their kids to read - well - as just one example, consider the thread that I know you've read about Scott Harris' JWM photo. The "captions" that people can come up with there can range from the "carefully worded to be obscure enough for a young kid to not even take notice of", through to the blatantly sexual, plus all of the ones inbetween that may get little Johnny running up to mom asking her to explain something she'd rather not. I know from having done moderator duties here in the past that it's hard figuring out exactly where to draw the line as to what to let by and what not to, and so having some feedback about whether we really do have a bunch of young kids in here or not might help the users & mods alike.

Later,
Gordon

I'm not petitioning nobody to do nothin'!

I'm just curious if any kids actually ARE watching.

So far, none.

RCU is pretty much like a average r/c club... the atmosphere here is amazingly similar.
Ocasionally we can poke fun , show a funny picture or even flame other club members, but this is still a sane place to kids (and adults) to frequent and watch.

by far better than most forums on the web.
