FC Mig-29 long lasting project
Guys,
This is a project that been on going almost 2 years. I have two of this kit. My is still in the box and this one belong to friend of my in Miami.
So many time I want to give up. But I have get it done before moving to a new shop.
When I get back from china will playing with hydrolic gear.
I hated. So use to air system and now play with oil. Is something I never done on model jet before.
If anyone have good close up photos of this color scheme. Please posted.
That give more reference to finish closet to scale as possible.
Thanks

RE: FC Mig-29 long lasting project
Scott,
There is no locking retract mechanist.
Using hydrolic ramp to hold the struts go up and down.
Air wouldn't be enough pressure to hold locking position.

the problem on the mig29 is the twisting of the gear when retracting and in some way is not possible to get it mecanically done..
i hope somebody with the mig29 can jump in with some photos...

If you or any other Mig 29 builder is having trouble with the hydraulics just contact Andreas Geitz ([email protected]).
In an e-mail he tells me they (FC) can make it all work for you. Its all our fault (but mostly mine) for not asking for help earlier.
Good luck.
All I want from Geitz is the exact balance point and the control travels in pitch and roll and mine is ready to fly.(using the Omega hydraulic control system and rams, which work with the requisite reliability) Its not much to ask but I get no reply to my requests for this rather vital information, which, I argue, SHOULD be in the instruction manual. Or is that asking just tooooo much ?
Regards,
David Gladwin.
PS. Apart from the hydraulics with which some of us who have experience with aircraft hydraulics as a part of our job would have been happy to work with Geitz to work out the bugs, this is a fabulous flying machine and very cleverly designed in many areas, reason I have stuck with it for so long, and encouraged so many other frustrated Mig builders to hang on in.

Hello again,
Dear Tam it is seems from the picture that you mispositioned the control linkage on the right fin .The control horns on the Mig's rudders are on the same side both left fin and the right fin, and not one on the outer left while the other on the outer right.

Hi Peter,
We have our majpor jet meeting next month at Wangarrratta in Victoria. Plan is to fly it then.
Everything (except brake chute is working but intakes and speedbrakes will be locked out for first flights.)
Really, just final wing software to be set, balance the thing and complete engine runs, then range check and its go !
Your recommended C of G is well aft of the one I was given some time ago which was at the mid point of the leading edge of the fin starkes but I hear on the grape vine that it was best to move it back (Greg Casson is flying his somewhere aft of the extension leading edge so must contact him too. )
Do you have control travels for pitch and roll ?
I also need some brake O rings. Can anyone help?
Regards,
David Gladwin.

Hi David,
The point of C of G has been given to me by my friend Marc Froehn and Wolfgang kluer.
I have the brake units complete and I'm not using them, I have machined my own wheels and brakes.
Which O ring do you need?
What's your mail I 'll send you some pic's of the Mig.
Mine is [email protected]

RE: FC Mig-29 long lasting project
I may be speaking well out of turn here but, I do wonder why these hydraulics need to be so complicated. I am at present flying a 3W Bearcat 100 inch on which I had no end of problems with getting the u/c to complete a full cycle and properly lock using air even at 170 psi.
So, I converted it to hydraulic using the Eurokits Hydraulic retract system, £200 in the UK. It now works 1st time every time, locks up and down and works at the scale speed!!
Perhaps this helps Mick
