And an odd control line speed ship, with a Dynajet on top. Definitely been flown. Odd because it has landing gear and a built-up wing. Most Dynajet models I have ever seen are either scale jobs, or dedicated speed ships, with solid wood or metal wings, and drop-off takeoff dollies. This ship would be an easy conversion to R/C. Just add ailerons and two or three servos. Doubt if rudder or nosegear steering would be needed, you would probably be airborne in ten feet. Check out the welded metal tank/cockpit. Doubt if I will actually DO the conversion, as there are no deserts convenient to here where I could fly the sucker without getting arrested on a noise complaint!

That's too funny! Where did you get them? I ask because they probably came from me...I uncovered a TON of them some years ago in a warehouse, most likely you have my reeds!
As I understand it, the Tiger Jet was a good runner. I have NO personal experience trying to run one, though. Wonder what gives with yours?
At any rate, your eardrums are probably grateful that it only popped and did not start!
I don't need the reeds, though I thank you for the offer. I doubt I will hold onto this. I'm trying to free up as much hobby capital and space as I can to make room for a major purchase, and pulsejets are not somethign I collect...

I got them from some older fellow at the last Toledo show.
You know the smaller jets were harder to run than the dyna or large OS - so I was told by many of the guys who ran them.
I gave up after a few hours. I was wearing my ear muffs but it was still LOUD when it popped.
I tried making a few over the last # of years but also gave up when I got too involved with other stuff.
You know, off topic , it really BURNS me that some of the guys that only fly one type of model (read: JETS) think that it is impossible for guys like you and me to fly other types of models. I dont know all the stuff you do, but I know I fly control line, free flight, rubber power, everything RC from jets to old timers, giants, 3D, helicopters, whatever. Thats just what I grew up doing and thats what I will allways do. As you know I "dabble" in engine building too and thats a whole other hobby. So damn the people that think its not possible! There, I said it...

I know! You'd think the world began and ended with jets!
Helos, though? Ewwwww.....
Did you get a MEWjet to run? That crazy thing you dip in a bucket of gas to fill?
I have a book that has all sorts of neat pulsejets in it, including a meteor with a bifurcated exhaust!

ET, I posted a while back i did make a repro of that MEW jet, dipped it in gas and it "ran" making about 3 grams thrust. Brutally funny! About the same thrust as from a bick lighter!
I am not bad at simple 3D with my heli. I had two sixty size, three 30's and an electric. I am down to one 30 size and will stick with that. My heli flying friends moved away and its no fun solo. But its fun to fly once and a while.

Andrew

Sounded too good to be true, the MEWjet. Like those giant Army Playsets sold in the back of comic books for ninety-nine cents that showed the entire invasion of Normandy in the ad, then turned out the be all flat plastic junk when they arrived. The MEWjet looks great in the ads, but I think the kit, when it arrived, was just a used CO2 capsule and a piece of tubing!
I have to confess, I have always wanted an Mi-24 Hind, with a five-bladed rotor head, and all the trimmings, but then I would actually have to go out and learn how to fly a helo...

When I was a kid, helis were new, and just getting one up and down in one peice, that was a real Yeager-like event. So I guess I still have some of that childhood intimidation in me. I think it cannot be THAT tough nowadays, judging from some of the chumps I see doing all sorts of flip flops and dadoes and such with them at my local fields...
