I am working on a B-58 that I plan to put 4 turbines in and will use the same ones. I hope to have the B-58 plugs and molds done very soon. Then I can start on anther ridiculous project, B-1B

It will be 1/10th scale, 170" fuse, 164" wing span. 36" from pivot to pivot on the wing. I cut out some templates and laid them in the driveway to see the size and it was as big as my truck. And I said that is the right size!
Butch

I thought mine was going to be big. I stood the foam up next to my garage door and said to myself "How am I going to get that to the flying field" and mine is only 1/12th scale, fuse 144" and 139" wingspan. Are you going to install 4 turbines?

Wow Roy,

What a pile of foam in the background. It's amazing how much material goes by-by to get a part.

This particular B1 made a roundtrip USA - MALTA - USA for a two-day airshow. Covered quite a distance!

It's a funny thing. Every time I share that photo, folks see the pile of foam in the background. I tell folks that I only have about $50 in the model but there must be $75 in the pile of scrap.

Thanks for the pics. Since I spent 31 years in the military and 17 of those in the USAF, I have collected a tremendous amount of photos of every nook and cranny of the B1-B. I was stationed at Grand Forks and Mather AFB's and have been TDY to Elsworth and Mt Home AFB's, all bases where the B1-B has been based. I don't think there is a photo of that bird that I don't have including those taken by AF photog's. I can probably tell you where every rivit, access panal and vortex generator is on that aircraft. Even though I have all that documentation, my rendition of the Lancer will not be scale, at least close up. Thanks again for your pics.

I am sorry I left that impression with you. I apologize. But, you offered pictures but said they were copyrighted. In other words, nice to look at but can't be copied or used. I respect copyrighted material. All I offered was my experience so if anyone had questions, they would be free to contact me.

RH,

Would you happen to have a pic with external ordinance mounted? I know it's not done due to the start treaty but this bird has (I believe) 4 hardpoints. I've looked through hundreds of pics of 'The Bone' but haven't found anything yet. Would probably have to be from development stage. Thanks in advance.

The external hardpoints (there are actually six) are located in front of and behind the bomb bays so they won’t interfer with the doors and have support of the internal frame structure. Here is some info that I have lifted from various printed sources.

“The aircraft has a overall payload of 134,000 lbs., including air launched cruise missiles, carried in three internal weapon bays and on six external hardpoints under the fuselage. The maximum internal weapons payload is 75,000 lbs. and maximum external weapons payload is 59,000 lbs. The external hardpoints can carry the AGM-86B ALCM as well as electronic jamming modules and fuel.â€

Also you might be interested in the following:

“The B-1R is a proposed replacement for the B-1B fleet.[8] Boeing's director of global strike integration, Rich Parke, was first quoted about the “B-1R†bomber in Air Force Magazine. Parke said the B-1R (R stands for “regionalâ€) would be a Lancer with advanced radars, air-to-air missiles, and F-22 engines. Its new top speed—Mach 2.2—would be purchased at the price of a 20 percent reduction of the B-1B’s combat range. The FB-22 is an alternative proposal.
Additional enhancements would include network-centric capabilities, air-to-air engagement, active electronically-scanned array radar, improved defensive systems, and opening up existing external hard points for conventional weapons.â€

This is the only photo that I have seen that shows the placement of external ordinance.

I have done some research on the B-1B and have never come across pictures of the hard point loaded. They are there but I've never seen anything on them. There is a Monogram 1/72 scale model that has weapons but I don't know if that is what you are looking for. I have the maintenance and flight manuals and the only thing it says's is there is another check list for Nuclear Stores 1B-1B-1-2CL-1.

The hardpoints that are there were for the external fuel tanks that were tried back in the day. It was proved that they were worthless because the drag that was created took up all the extra gas.... so you'll proably never see them loaded.

The B1 is capable of external ordinance but will never carry any due to radar profile. The internal bomb bay is about 2x larger than the B52 so it has tremendous capability without compromise of radar signature. I have a freind who is a B1 pilot and he describes the plane as a huge f-15.

Hey guys,

I am a big fan of the B1-b lancer.

I think its the sexiest jet there is.

I made mine using scale 3 views for a .60 size pusher.

tell me if you like it.

Can anyone out there let me know where I might find some 3 view drawings or some plans I can get to build my own B1B?
