Hi guys
With my son Maxi we start flying our HOTSPOT
before Florida Jets 2001 that we attend.
And we continous flying it till present time
Mostly of the flight Maxi use about 75% of the
power from our Ram 750Plus,on some maneuvers.
The airplane is a pleasure to fly and land, but
when he did a hihg speed pass (full power) the
airplane turn over the left on his central axis
doing almost a ´´knife edge´´ manouver.
Slowing a little (20 %) its dissapear.
Any similar experience, any advise about it will be welcome.
Regards,
Pedro

Ive got loads of flight on my hotspot and its never done that, although its had its fair share of unitentional flat spins. Sounds like either a servo sticking at neutral so when elevator is aplied it rolls the model, or sticking deflected up as you dive and when you level out the other one neutralises and causes the same effect.
Ive had this problem with futaba digitals.

My friends and in south Florida have logged several hundred flights on our Hot Spots and have never encountered any problems with the airplane. However we have taken the following precautions to avoid any problems:
1. All of our planes rudders and wings are glassed with 2oz fiberglass cloth
2. No Gaps are left open between the fuse, rudders and wings
3. We are very careful not to slow it down while invereted, because as with any Delta wing config, an upside down stall is very difficult to get out of.
Happy Landings!

Thanks for your advice.
Our plane is fiberglassed, the joints between
ruder, fuse and wing are tight,I after talk with my son, we are suspicious about the servos, they are JR8411 digital servos.
The interrogation is that it happens at full power.
I think that something related with incidences,or
gaps, had to be noticeable at 80% of power.
Will see tomorrow.
Have a nice weekend,
Pedro

Hi guys..
This afternoon we did fly our Hotspot
with a RAM750,that we( no the factory) converted to electric start
and fuel lubrications.
It start more fast than my RAM750Plus,but have
less thrust indeed.
We did fly with it,and the difference was a longer
take-off run (from a regular grass field).
Maxi did some high pass flyby and nothing happen!
We are suspicious that with the extra power maybe
there is a wing with a little flex.
I will let know you after some fix that I will do
and what happen with the RAM750 PLUS power.
Thank you again for your cooperation and help!

Pedro

no.
i do not believe that a wing will flex (when the junction between fuselage and wing is properly built).
we fly hotspots with a PJ 130 turbine (similar to the P 160 of jet cat) and have never seen tendencies like the one you described above.
mec
maybe of interest:
at the moment we test a selfmade wing with a S-shape (i do not know, if this is the correct word for).
the standard wing on the bottom.
first flight showed no up elevator, which was our major goal, on a straight flight.

Mac
The plane is correctly build, glassed and everything careful done.
Really I do not what happen when full thrust is applied.
I will continue testing till find the problem.
About the wing,we on the original one,do not need to apply elevator for straight flight.
Maybe I do not understand what you mean, sorry.

Pedro

hi pedro,
this is very surprising.
because every hotspot i know, needs more than 8mm up elevator for straigh flight (preasumed the angle of wing to fuselage as in the manual, also C.G.). this has also been mentioned in http://rconline.community.everyone.n...ipts/thread.pl yet.
because of the need for up elevator, we built the new wing.

Mec :
I now undestand, you are talking about
the ´´reflex´´ needed to fly a delta wing.
With your new wing elevons are set to 0º.
Congratulations!

excuse the mistakes i make.
should have said elevons instead of elevators.
i am not sure: the angle of wing to fuselage (sideview) is called "reflex" ?
thanx

Mec
reflex is called that with the wing at zero
the elevons are 7mm or more (according to the design)up.
Best regarsd,
