Pick up the servo? ? I sent them a servo once, to have it reverse programmed. It cost $1.30 to send it from Florida to California. They did the work for free. Didn't even use the return postage that I had included.
A bit of advice Yale - It's very hard to understand your thoughts. Try to break them up into sentences.

Well,
I have used many Hitec digitals - no problems so far. I did plug one in reverse polarity (airtronics receiver) and blew it up. Sent it to Hitec, they decided to replace it with a brand new one and only charged me $30 US. I thought that was great of them. Got it back quickly too.

Yale
Would you share your servo specific problem with us??? I have never heard of the 5945 servo's having any failures, with the exception of some very early release models that were over driven past programmed parameters... The recall you mentioned is to reprogram all Hitec Digitals to work with all other manufacturer's equipment, without issues that were recognized and experienced with field use.
If Hitec offered to have the servo picked up as you mention, assuming UPS is involved. It takes a while for the process to happen. Typically a week or better and at substantial cost to Hitec, if I recall it costs around $15.00 for this service plus shipping expense. I'd have sent it to them via US Mail. Most likely you'd have had it back in a matter of days...

Hey Woketman, the only ones that ever broke were the ones I had to dig out of the ground after I smoked one in, Ha Ha. Yes, I can admit to a dumb thumb now and then, mostly when I get too cocky three feet off the deck inverted. Heed my Louisiana battle cry "hay ya'll, watch this!!".

For what it's worth,
I bought a new JR 8411 yesterday and after close inspection I noticed there was no back-lash in the alloy gears. I have used the 8411's in several planes and they all had some back-lash. As a mater of fact I had to look at the back side of the plastic box to make sure it had alloy gears and not nylon. I think JR has remedied the problem. With all the feed back they received from dissatisfied customers, they resolved it.
